A 40-year-old man attempted to carjack a vehicle from a 20-year-old woman in San Luis Obispo Monday evening. After failing to do so, he entered a coffee shop, punched a 22-year-old woman in the face and attempted to steal the business’s cash register.

Just after 7 p.m., San Luis Obispo police began receiving calls about a man who tried to carjack a vehicle from a woman in the Laguna Village Shopping Center.

Transient Albert Ramirez grabbed the woman’s door handle and tried to force his way into the vehicle, according to a SLOPD news release. The woman locked the car just before Ramirez tried to open the door.

Ramirez then tried several times to break the driver’s window using his elbows. After failing to break into the car, he fled into the Nautical Bean where he approached a 22-year-old female employee who was trying to close the store. Ramirez immediately punched her in the face, causing her to fall on the ground.

The female employee suffered minor lacerations to her face.

Ramirez then tried to steal the cash register. He attempted to lift the register but failed. He then shoved the cash register off the counter.

While Ramirez was inside Nautical Bean, a male employee grabbed a large kitchen knife from the back of the coffee shop in order to protect himself and his injured coworker. Ramirez fled when the worker entered the front of the business with the knife.

The male employee then followed Ramirez and called 911. He relayed their location to the 911 dispatcher, and police officers located Ramirez.

Officers arrested Ramirez at the Madonna Road post office and charged him with attempted carjacking, assault, burglary and vandalism. Police booked him in San Luis Obispo County Jail, where he remains with bail set at $50,000.

Another sad event in SLO, I like shopping and driving around the town, but if you read New Time’s police reports you know on almost every corner there is something bad going on. How can we protect ourselves from those stupid people wishing us harm? Lock or doors look around be aware!?? It is so awful to have to be afraid in our cities and some of the ‘homeless’ make our quality of life less secure. No matter how wonderful, beautiful or cities some people don’t appreciate it, they want to rob us and hurt us. Be careful out there, especially in shops and women in cars in parking lots. It is really a dang shame.

But it is the happiest place on earth.

I sure hope he doesn’t get a plea bargain. He needs to go to trial and get the full sentence.

The above link is to a local agency that provides self defense training to women ages 12 and up. They charge $15 a person, but will not deny anyone for inability to pay.

Women need to send out the message that they will not make an easy victim. It is going to be VERY difficult, probably not worth the effort it would take to subdue her. Know what I’m saying?

The next one is next month!

Again, I am saddened that you do not have enough faith. A true Christian is to follow the direct words of Jesus the Christ, therefore, there is absolutely no need for any of the training you’ve posted.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.” (Matt. 5:38-39)

“Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” (Matt. 5:43-48, Luke 6:27-28)

God is on Facebook now so you can sign up for the classes there. Don’t forget to select like and type all those Amens or some poor person’s ingrown toenail will not be healed!!!!

SLO’s golden days are over but most here aren’t even aware of it or simply don’t care. Sad state of affairs to find meth pipes in the park, needles in bathrooms, and users in broad daylight who have no fear of getting busted because they’ll be right back out the next day – and not a single voice of outrage. Not only is there no public outrage, our friends and neighbors are applauding the city’s “growth and progress”. Give me a F–ing break, the last thing we need is more “affordable housing” and another vape store.

I hate to break it to you, but you are out of touch with reality. Crime has dropped tremendously across the country, even in San Luis Obispo as the population has gone up. And San Luis Obispo USED to have affordable housing, and it was affordable not because of some government program, but because wealthy snobs from out of the area hadn’t driven the prices sky high, and driven the cost of fees to build a home upwards of $80,000 with their ridiculous codes. Also, we used to have more opportunities for lower class people to work, live in a halfway decent place, and be able to hang around and have fun socially without spending a bunch of money.

Now, back to directly addressing your comment. You know why there isn’t a single voice of outrage about the things you’re talking about. Because NOBODY CARES. And you shouldn’t either. Worry about yourself. There are FAR more important things to care about, like the incredibly overpaid and overequipped police that people like you have brought to our town to drive the cost of housing up.

You’re right, section 8 style affordable housing is going to bring the wrong kind of people in, but apparently, overpriced housing brings the wrong kind of people in too.

Not to mention people hiding behind bankruptcy laws so they don’t have to pay people that need the money to live here.

The employee should have shanked this POS

This idiot was in my business 10 days ago causing chaos and it took 3 SLO PD units to deal with him. Surprised he wasn’t booked then.

Is your business over by the airport? I saw 5 cop cars on Aerovista on Saturday the 5th with just one guy in handcuffs on the sidewalk.

Transient animal Ramirez needs to be redirected to his “home”.

Mexico or Prison?

Black Copter Pilot

Prison in Mexico

With his Lord.

A shame we put down dogs and cats nobody wants but “men” like this can do as they please.

You know why that is? Because we have overfilled our prisons, thanks to people like you, who are so worried about “oh my gosh they’re doing drugs out in the open for SHAME someone think of the children.” So now it makes it a lot harder to put away people who actually commit crimes that victimize others. Besides that, many people make mistakes.. we don’t kill them for it. And to suggest we do such a thing really just makes you as awful as the people you’re criticizing, maybe worse., Go away

So JThackery you think humans should be murdered by the government, if guilty of assault?

What a horrible belief to have, not even Saudi Arabia beheads for assault (apostasy, adultery, and sodomy is another matter).

Another fine example of our homeless population! Let’s keep subsidizing them – maybe more will come!

And you achillesheal, what a fine example you are.

Return of the Undeserving Poor

“And what is the lesson? Why, that poor whites are moral failures, and they should move to where there are opportunities (where?). It’s really extraordinary.

Oh, and lots of swipes at food stamps, welfare programs, disability insurance (which conservatives insist is riddled with fraud, despite lots of evidence to the contrary.)”

Don’t get me wrong, Albert needs prison etc but your harping on all of the homeless every time the village finds a idiot is old and hateful.

These homeless and transients are not the “prettified” reality that you claim. They are drug addicts, alcoholics, scum that have alienated every person who has ever cared about them through their lawless behavior.

This lifestyle is their choice and fools like you and those in government are stupid enough to let them live this lifestyle in our community while being paid for it.

Whatever governmnent subsidizes it creates more of. That’s Econ 101 .

That’s not bitter, it’s common sense, fool.

“These homeless and transients are not the “prettified” reality that you claim.”

I never said that.

“They are drug addicts, alcoholics, scum that have alienated every person who has ever cared about them through their lawless behavior.”

Sure that’s likely, I never said otherwise

“This lifestyle is their choice”

Yes, captain obvious, we know that.

“fools like you and those in government are stupid enough to let them live this lifestyle in our community while being paid for it.”

You are included in the “like you and those in government are stupid enough to let them live this lifestyle ” you are part of why this has happened.

Again you have no real solution’s to the problem, just bitching and hate on all homeless because of a some bad apples. All the while politicians and corporations steal public money wholesale, contributing to the the above problem.

it’s common sense, fool.

my solution is harass and make their lives miserable so they will leave this town. That’s a solution.

You have to make them so uncomfortable with their current lifestyle that they change it.

No sense trying to reason with the enablers, and they’re everywhere. When you start up your harassment group sign me up! I’m sick of this $hit already.

If the pattern fits, he will be out on the streets in a few weeks, free to terrorist honest tax paying citizens again. Meanwhile, we have money for things such as public employee pensions and pay raises. Folks….the Gig is up…the Revolution is about to begin.
