Former Arroyo Grande citizen of the year Lenny Jones received a prison sentence of 14 years and eight months on Tuesday. Jones, 65, pleaded no contest last month to several child molestation charges.

In Jan. 2015, the Arroyo Grande Chamber of Commerce honored Jones as the city’s 2014 Citizen of the Year. Jones was a realtor and an active member of various community groups.

Two months later, Jones hosted a child’s birthday party at his home. Jones molested girls ages 6, 9 and 12, as well as a 3-year-old boy, during the birthday party.

Officers arrested Jones in April 2015 on numerous charges, including kidnapping, child molestation and penetration with a foreign object.

In April 2016, Jones pleaded no contest to four counts of lewd acts with a child under 14, one count of using a minor to engage in sex acts and one misdemeanor charge of molesting or annoying a child. Prosecutors dropped several charges in exchange for Jones’ plea.

On Tuesday, Jones spoke during his sentencing hearing. He cried in court and admitted to molesting children. [KSBY]

Jones said what he did was wrong and terrible and that he felt ashamed. But, he blamed his addiction to alcohol for his behavior. Jones said he blacked out from binge drinking at the birthday party and does not remember what he did.

Authorities previously charged Jones with child molestation in 1995, but prosecutors dropped the charges after he completed two years of counseling.

Jones has remained in San Luis Obispo County Jail since his April 2015 arrest.

Take some lube with you to the slam, Lenny. You’re going to need it…

I did it…but it wasn’t my fault.

What a scumbag. The judge should have added 10 years for that excuse.

In 95 he goes relatively unscathed with two years of counseling, clearly a result of money and influence. One of the percs when you belong to all of the right clubs, even with that, the good ol boys make him citizen of the year…..par for the course.

In this latest episode, he blames alcohol and blacking out. Wow, thats a lot of activity for being blacked out, and he was even able to document it with photos! There is no correlation with being an alcoholic and being a child molester, just a lame excuse to avoid culpability.

Repeat sexual offender knowing what he did was wrong. He should also be given the death penalty. He ruined those poor kids lives. I hope he gets whats coming to him in prison and that they don’t put him in some soft snitch tank. Put him out in general population and let nature do its course.

For every action or inaction there are consequences. For his actions he will get it in the Rump and for complacent inaction you will get it in the Trump.

“Former Arroyo Grande citizen of the year” is this because it his award was from a past year or was his award actually taken away? I don’t recall hearing that Arroyo Grande actually took away his award.

His was so drunk he blacked out, but no one realized he was busy molesting kids? Of course it is never the molesters fault, give him some time and he will say the kids came on to him.

What about those pictures on your camera, if you were so ashamed once you realized the police had those why not just plead guilt?

I don’t think we should do plea deals with a molester that there are pictures on his camera. That is how they found out about the little boy. Does Dan Dow not think they could have gotten a conviction WITH pictures? They removed the felony charges, what a shame.

Lenny I hope the guys you are about to meet have some quality one on one time with you. I don’t think you will live to get out of prison and if you do don’t come back into this community we are through with you.

Wonder if the chamber will now remove his name as citizen of the year?

“Authorities previously charged Jones with child molestation in 1995, but prosecutors dropped the charges after he completed two years of counseling.” I do not understand why any city would select someone with a child molestation charge as their citizen of the year. I’m surmising background checks are not part of the selection process for citizen of the year but it seems like someone would have had an inkling about the 1995 charges.

How do you drop molestation charges due to counseling? I don’t understand this.

It was a he said/she said situation without the evidence needed for prosecution. I was a neighbor of Lenny’s at the time, but didn’t know him personally.

The little girls told their mother about Lenny exposing himself, and to the mother’s credit, she reported it to the police. Even then, Lenny was a big real estate star.

I

Thank you, I thought it might be something like that.

Now he will feel in prison like I feel with the Trump fraud winning.

If you dont like the donald, You can always vote for the matriarch of the Clinton crime family.

Nope, don’t like him. He is not a conservative. In fact, he is a liberal so not much difference between him and Hilliary. I will not be voting for either of them. Hoping for a good third party choice.

You are really comparing Trump to a guy who molests 3 year olds? What the hell is wrong with you?

It was a figure of speech, stoopid, Give me a break, Of course I wasn’t comparing the two of them. Brush up on your cognitive capabilities, okay?
