Statement from Katcho Achadjian’s campaign

Salud Carbajal and Congresswoman and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have spent more than a quarter-million dollars in an effort to slander Assemblyman and Congressional Candidate Katcho Achadjian.

Mailers began filling mailboxes last week and television ads in both Spanish and English began airing this week claiming that Katcho hates immigrants and women. Assemblyman Achadjian’s voting record however tells a much different story.

Just a few of the bills Katcho has sponsored or supported that protect women in the State Assembly include:

·         AB 65 (Achadjian, 2013) – closed a loophole and strengthened protections for victims of rape.

·         AB 1517 (Skinner, 2014) –sets timelines for law enforcement agencies and crime labs to perform and process DNA testing of rape kit evidence.

·         SB 358 (Jackson, 2015) – prohibits an employer from paying any of its employees wage rates less than the rate paid to employees of the opposite sex for substantially similar work.

·         SB 400 (Jackson, 2013) – prohibits employers from discriminating or retaliating against employees who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking.

·         AB 1443 (Skinner, 2013) – extends workplace protections against sex discrimination and harassment to unpaid interns.

“I’m confident in my own merits to run an issue-focused clean campaign,” Katcho said in response to the attacks. “As an immigrant myself, I know the value of hard work and want to make the American dream a reality for all. As a husband and father, I have a long record of protecting women on issues of wage discrimination, domestic violence, and sexual assault. And I will continue to do so.”

Katcho Achadjian’s daughter and campaign manager Nyri Achadjian questions the negative attacks.

“My father would never run a negative ad because he has confidence in the merits of his own record,” Nyri Achadjian said. “The progress women have made in this country ought to be a lesson that attack ads harm all of us and stifle the very necessary conversation around these issues. I am disappointed in their tactics.”

Prior to serving in the California State Assembly, Katcho was elected to the San Luis Obispo County’s Board of Supervisors where he served for three consecutive terms.

Katcho Achadjian is the leading candidate in the race for the 24th Congressional District, which encompasses Santa Barbara County, San Luis Obispo County, and part of Ventura County. Katcho has represented the residents of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties for more than a decade. He lives in San Luis Obispo with his family.

You can usually judge a person by their friends. The name Nancy Pelosi is all I need to know. She is as crooked as they come, and dumb. “Just vote for it, we can read it later”. Is that the kind of people you want to represent you? Then throw in Cory Black and that kind of puts the nail in the coffin. All losers.

Katcho is one of the more honorable people in Central Coast politics, he cares more for the people and working man than the other self idolized idiots.

Making a choice is easy as the others, mostly from out of the area, are trying to buy this election. Do you really think that THEY care about US?

I am voting for Matt Kokkonen in the primary.

If Achadjian makes the run off and is running against someone like Helene Schneider or Salud Carbajal, I will vote for Katcho.

Why is Nancy Pelosi not under investigation along with her husband? This country had better get the money out of politics or we will never get straight again. The things I’ve read about her crooked financial doings would make most human beings go behind closed doors and never show their face in public again.

What a twisted article. Why not state the truth. Katcho would let women die rather than have a choice for medical care. He is anti-choice which endangers women’s lives.

He is also a liar like most Republicans. When CoveredCA was just getting rolled out many of use sought honest information about these policies. Instead of serving his voters with honest information about new policies for us. What did he do? He loaded his Web site with misleading information and out right lies about these policies.

The entire California Republican Party was called out for this deceit that Katcho went along with. He’s just another R, and not good for us.

“CoveredCA”?????, don’t worry you can keep your doctor and your plan!!!!! and you say who lied???

And you can save $2,500 a year… My insurance has doubled and I get less! Nice… But, all the illegal kids are getting free healthcare, dental, vision, and mental health. My kids get shit!

Democrats, like Carvajal and Pelosi, are being funded by the organized-crime thugs of the public-sector unions.

One phrase addresses Katcho’s character, “Water District”, it’s not as unassailable as you think.

I agree that he blew it on the Water District legislation but I am not sure that is a result of lack of character. It could easily be he was honestly swayed by dishonest people. I don’t agree with Katcho on a couple of big issues but I do think that he has been pretty honest and decent in the way he conducts himself as a politician. Standards for behavior may be pretty low for politicians but he has definitely been well above average.

I have decided that I will vote in the general election for the candidate for 24th District Representative that is from the opposite party as the likely winner of the Presidency. Given the almost certain choices we’ll have for that office, more congressional stalemates may be the lesser of two evils. Pelosi’s endorsement of Carbajal does make voting for him very unsettling — even if Trump ends up the favorite to win the presidency. A relatively moderate Republican option like Katcho might get me to re-think that decision.

Democrats try to paint anyone that is pro-life as anti women. Just pathetic fear mongering!

Desperate people resort to desperate measures. Too bad for Carbajal and Pelosi that Katcho’s character is unassailable. Obviously the same can’t be said for theirs.

Achadjian is a do-nothing toady. There are better Republican candidates that will represent the central coast citizens in a positive and professional manner. Vote ABA (anybody but Achadjian).

Hey there Cooney, Maybe Pavo should consider this position. Oh wait…Oceano is paying him $250K a year to manage a town of 6K people? Something as low level as a congressperson would be a cut in pay id suspect.
