Eight motorcycles crash near San Simeon

CHP@At least five people suffered injuries Sunday afternoon in a crash involving eight motorcycles on Highway 1 near San Simeon.

Shortly after 1 p.m., multiple agencies including the CHP, Cal Fire and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department provided assistance after the accident. CHP dispatchers said further information about the crash will be provided after an officer involved finishes his report.

Emergency personnel transported five of the people injured in the accident to local hospitals. One suffered major injuries, two had moderate injuries and two suffered minor injuries.

Pain and suffering is a Darwin Award for driving too closely to the vehicles in front of you.

No doubt it was the “crotch rocket” variety and Go Pros/You Tube were somehow involved. Sorry, but if EIGHT crash into each other, I somehow think they deserve it. I do hope they all recover fully.

Sorry Persi but yours is a totally asinine statement. How could you possibly know what happened from the information given? Just going on your gut prejudices, huh? Sure, my first thought was maybe crotch rockets, but eight at once? It’s the Harley riders that tend to ride in close formation. And, it could quite possibly have been caused by some stupid cage driver in the first place. BTW: I ride both types, one or the other, every day

I apologize and retract my insensitive comment above. I was recently nearly run off the road by a group of motorcycles splitting traffic and I was still steamed about that.

“CHP dispatchers said further information about the crash will be provided after an officer involved finishes his report”. From the sounds of things, this could be lengthy for the officer.
