July 19, 2016
Detectives have identified at least nine young girls Jason Robert Porter allegedly sexually molested from child pornography discovered in his Paso Robles home. Porter is currently in jail on 23 charges related to sexually molesting local children.
Porter, who has been arrested twice in the last month, is also accused of both possessing and manufacturing child pornography. Investigators identified girls Porter allegedly molested while searching through his collection of child pornography.
Other possible victims have yet to be identified.
On June 23, Paso Robles police arrested Porter, 44, after a woman found him taking lewd photographs of her 6-year-old daughter. Porter was booked in San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of possession of child pornography and committing a lewd act with a child under the age of 14. He quickly posted bail and was released.
Last week, police served a search warrant at a home Porter shares with his parents, Lyle and Margaret Porter. Detectives seized computers and storage devices and discovered thousands of images and videos of suspected child pornography.
Officers obtained an arrest warrant, and on Friday, the South Pasadena Police Department located Porter. South Pasadena officers arrested Porter, and Paso Robles police transported him back to the Central Coast.
Upon his second arrest, Porter was charged with seven counts of lewd acts upon a child, five counts of sexual acts with a child under the age of 10, one count of sexual exploitation of a child, one count of possession of child pornography and nine counts of secretly recording a victim. Porter remains in San Luis Obispo County Jail with his bail set a $7 million.
Detectives have contacted the families of the nine victims who have been identified. The Paso Robles Police Department is encouraging anyone who has information about additional victims to come forward.
For years, local author Tina Swithin fought to keep Porter, her former brother-in-law, away from her children. However, the court forced Swithin to allow some visitation with Porter at the family’s Paso Robles home.
Swithin has written that Porter beat puppies and made out with a 14-year-old girl at a wedding. He was also homicidal and suicidal, and he spoke of murdering and raping women, Swithin wrote.
