The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office filed second degree murder charges against a man who allegedly killed two children in a drunk driving accident on Highway 166 on Labor Day.
Prosecutors filed eight felony counts Thursday against Jerald Brandon Holman, 36, of Bakersfield. Charges include two counts of second degree murder for the two children he allegedly killed and two counts of child endangerment for two children who were riding in the car he crashed into.
On Monday, Jerald Brandon Holman, 36, of Bakersfield was headed westbound on Highway 166, when he crashed head-on into a car carrying a couple from Yucaipa and their two children. All four members of the Yucaipa family suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Two of Holeman’s passengers, a 7-year-old boy and a 4-year-old-girl, were ejected from his car and killed. The children’s mother, Todeshea Lewis, 26, suffered minor injuries.
Holman, who was driving without a valid driver’s license, has been sentenced to state prison on three prior occasions. If convicted, he faces life in prison.
