Adam Hill predisposed to not being deposed

San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Adam Hill was scheduled to be deposed Friday in a case involving CCN, but the deposition is on hold while Hill mounts a legal battle to stop his requirement to testify under oath.

Charles Tenborg filed a lawsuit against CalCoastNews in 2013, claiming libel. As part of discovery, CCN’s attorneys served Hill with a subpoena for a deposition.

Days before the scheduled deposition — and despite the county not being party to the case —  County Counsel Rita Neal contacted CCN attorneys on behalf of Hill. She claimed Hill had a scheduled meeting, and thus would not be able to attend the deposition. Neal also argued that Hill has no personal knowledge about the lawsuit and should not have to testify.

Several of Tenborg’s claims against CCN are specific to IWMA board issues, including the approval of Tenborg’s contract. Hill is a member of the IWMA board and voted to approve Tenborg’s contract. In addition, Tenborg testified that he spoke with Hill about the lawsuit before he filed his claim, and Hill subsequently sent texts to CalCoastNews advertisers boasting of his involvement in the case.

On Oct. 3, Riverside attorney Douglas Smith sent an ex parte motion seeking to prevent Hill from testifying before CCN attorneys. In the motion, Smith claims Hill is exempt from being deposed because he is a high ranking public official with no personal knowledge of claims in the lawsuit.

The supervisor is seeking a protective order and an order to quash his subpoena.

In Hill’s sworn declaration, he makes multiple grammar and spelling errors, even spelling San Luis Obispo County wrong twice.

Please tell me why County Counsel Rita L. Neal is doing Adam’s legal work. Looks like improper activity on the part of Ms. Neal while on the County payroll.


Adam Hill is an embarrassment to his constituents and to his Supervisor colleagues. He should resign and concede the election to Dan.


I actually feel sorry on a human level for Adam. He clearly needs treatment.

Some analysis:


The “A” on his keyboard works as it is used successfully in the document in the beginning. After the second line it starts to fall apart. So I would guess the first bong hit was about that time after which his left pinky started failing.


He then took a break, maybe got some munchies and took another hit and went back to the declaration. You will notice it starts to get worse by #3 until at the end he can’t even type his own name he is so stoned and the only successful “A” is in the word DATED which he probably hen pecked.


It happens when you are pie eyed.


What is inexcusable is that in the cold light of sobriety, he would send this off to a court. No one does that. So one must conclude that he sent it off while still stoned. Huh?


One hopes that Mr. Hill does his drinking and drugging at home, as evidenced by a lot of bizarre actions involving phones and computers at night or in the wee hours. But this must have been delivered during the day. So he either didn’t read it again or was stoned when he delivered it during the day. Makes sense given some of the things he does when the sun is out as well.

This goofy response makes a mockery of our legal system.


Clearly it is contemptible through a social and political lens. Does it rise to the level of contempt of court? I suppose that’s for the judge to decide.

Mere words cannot do justice to the majestic picture of Hill accompanying this article. It makes one think of the Baron Harkonnen, of Michael Moore, of illicit Krispy Kreme consumed secretly in the dead of night.


Certain artists have the ability to capture not just the visage, but also the very soul of their subject. Behold the soul of a man upon whom the realization is slowly dawning that he has just sat on the last slice of blueberry pie, and let your soul be purged with pity and awe.


…and vote the bum out.

I read the document and clearly Mr. Hill needs to be in the “Special Ed” room during the meetings “wen pople sai manny werds an I hav tooooo lisen an yel at dem”.

WTF is Neal doing burning taxpayer paid time by sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong? I hope Carpenter has a chat with her after he beats Hill.

The chat should go something like this, Ms. Neal after talking with the other supervisors it is decided your services with the county are no longer needed, today is your last day.

Nobody is that stupid and makes that many errors in a legal doc. There must be an ulterior motive.


My guess is that when this dumbo tactic blows up on Adam, and is examined by the court, he can say “No. I did not attest to that. My name is Adam Hill. That is the sworn statement of dmHill, who must be someone else.”
