Arroyo Grande man admits to hitting roommate in head with wrench

A 69-year-old Arroyo Grande man admitted to hitting his roommate in the head with a wrench last month, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s officials have charged the man with attempted murder. [KSBY]
On Oct. 5 during an argument at a home on the 200 block of Moore Lane in rural Arroyo Grande, John Allan Gillis allegedly hit the victim in the head several times with a socket wrench. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for major head injuries.
Deputies arrested Gillis and booked him into the San Luis Obispo County Jail with his bail set a $500,000. Gillis later admitted to using the wrench to attack his roommate.
