Central Coast festivalgoer died of LSD overdose

Baylee Ybarra Gatlin

A 20-year-old Ventura woman who died after attending a music festival at Lake San Antonio this spring overdosed on Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD), according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.

Baylee Ybarra Gatlin, a Ventura College student, became ill while at the Lightning in a Bottle festival in southern Monterey County. Gatlin was transported to Twin Cites Community Hospital in Templeton, where she died early in the morning on May 28.

The SLO County coroner’s unit conducted an autopsy and determined Gatlin’s cause of death to be LSD toxicity. The manner of Gatlin’s death is described as accidental, according to a SLO County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Following the music festival, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office stated in a Facebook post that about 25,000 people attended the three-day event. The sheriff’s office said it had established a great relationship with the founders of the event in order to provide safety and security for attendees and staff.

Gatlin’s family, however, has contended that there were not proper medical services at the music festival.

Lighting in a Bottle previously acknowledged on its website that drug use occurs at the event, and organizers said protocols were in place to reduce harm.

I don’t know what acid heads look like but I doubt if they look like this poor girl. Someone slipped her a mickie and that is murder.

I didn’t know about the water laced with LSD trick, makes sense though!

“L.A.RamsFan

. I went to a Grateful Dead concert way back when at Anaheim Stadium and had a girl walk by me and spray water in my face that was laced with LSD. I’ve used the drug before and don’t like it, not at all! I had no idea that the water that hit me in the face and eyes was laced with LSD and in a very short time I was high as hell”

I’m surprised the Military never weaponized it, bombers spraying a mist of LSD laced water over a battle field, wait till the enemy is tripping, round them up while they’re contemplating their belly buttons!!!

LSD placed in the eye is absorbed much quicker than ingesting it by mouth which in turn makes the onset of its effects much quicker and stronger because it bypasses the digestive process which will lesson the potency of any drug. Just like those that I knew who “hooped” meth’ (placing the drug in their anuses) it’s just another way of getting higher quicker (I’ve never partaken meth’ in that fashion but have been told by those who have it is even more intense and almost as quick as injecting it).

LSD is at first from what I understand a liquid, better known as LSD-25, it only becomes “acid” after it’s been diluted down and then “dripped” onto a solid substance such as paper or on a tablet.

Back in the day there was a group pf people from Laguna Beach known as the Brotherhood of Eternal Love and their main claim to fame was their introduction of Orange Sunshine “tabs” to the world of LSD users. The “tabs” were identifiable by the “Keep on Truckin’ character emblazoned on each dose. It was, if I remember correctly, the first time LSD had been offered outside the liquid form and had been labeled as “acid”.

My experience with “dosing” still kind of bothers me; it was unexpected and very frickin’ intense! Combine that with being around 40,000 plus people, loud ass music and a stadium that was literally ROCKIN’ it was not good! If not for the people I came with bein’ on top of it I don’t know what would have happened.

I just can’t imagine a person knowingly and willingly taking the dosage level to bring on death, especially if that person had any prior experience with psychedelics.
