Hundreds protest Sessions firing in SLO

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered and marched in downtown San Luis Obispo Thursday evening as part of nationwide protests against President Donald Trump’s decision to fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions, as it relates to alleged efforts to squash the ongoing probe into Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia. Following Tuesday’s mid-term elections, which resulted in the Democrats taking back the House of Representatives and the Republicans keeping control of the Senate, Trump fired Sessions, who had recused himself on the matter of the president’s alleged collusion with Russia. Trump replaced Sessions with Acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, who has been critical of the investigation into the alleged collusion.

Liberal activist organization MoveOn then called for the “Mueller protection rapid response,” spurring protests across the United States against Trump and in defense of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s ongoing investigation. Local activist organizations, such as the Women’s March SLO and the SLO County Progressives, helped organize demonstrations.

Protesters gathered in San Luis Obispo outside the courthouse, where speakers including recently reelected Congressman Salud Carbajal and SLO Mayor Heidi Harmon addressed a crowd.

“Attorney General Jeff Sessions has not been the best attorney general,” Carbajal said. “But at least he had the decency of recusing himself.”

Carbajal said the crowd was gathered to send the message to Trump that no one is above the law. Harmon, who won reelection resoundingly on Tuesday, echoed the message.

“Equality and accountability under the law is essential to prevent the terrible threat of tyranny,” Harmon said. “It’s what this country was built on.”

Women’s March SLO is now calling for activists to demand Congress protect the special counsel’s office; demand the creation of a modern-day Senate Watergate Committee to investigate the Russia scandal and Trump’s alleged abuse of power and obstruction of justice; and demand bipartisan hearings in the House Judiciary Committee on obstruction of justice and abuse of power.

They protested him coming in and they protest his leaving?….hey protesters! you are weakening the protest….when you are always protesting it loses its effectiveness….

It’s just team sports at this point. They don’t stand for anything. It’s just do whatever you can to win, that’s it. Whatever Trump does, they are against.

Idiots!

Carbajal and Harmon state that no one is above the law. I think that we all agree to that. So with that said let them get 2 of the biggest offender’s that this nation has ever had. The Clinton’s and the Obama’s, then when they are done with prosecuting them and hopefully re establishing their government housing in a prison we then can check back in to see if they have found anything on Trump yet.

Who’s the person that’s all thumbs?,,, Don’t shake my hand!

It’s great to finally have a President that has come out to be a real leader. Wow, we clearly have a President! Let him be who he is, we can’t un-leadership a leader, just as we preach for all of the suasions. Good for him to curtail the wasting of taxes on a witch hunt.

If he proves to do good for our country in his first term, he’s got my vote for the next term. This has been amazing to see our aged President address his youthful adversaries by actually telling them to shut their indecent mouths, he doesn’t have to listen to violent words and disrespectful allegations, good for him and us.Those who try to publicly humiliate our President are definitely working for some outside enemy. The time for the public to make changes is during the election process, remember we are all in this together. Always vote your conscience.

# “F” going to work today. Get a life people.

That last paragraph is telling. There’s already a “russia investigation” and “abuse of power” investigation going on with Mueller. And there have been many hearings with the Democrats present and questioning. So either these protestors are severely misinformed or simply want to keep investigating until they get the answer they want. I think it’s obvious what they’re up to.

The Attorney General serves at the discretion of the President. Has no one taken a civics course?

Did anyone else notice Arroyo Grande’s Patty Welsh is pictured in the Trib wearing a Statue of Liberty costume? “Not above the Law” should apply to everyone, including those who vandalize public and private property.

Welsh isn’t worried, she sees all the right people won the election and feels Dan Dow won’t prosecute her and she’s probably right. Dow will try to make it go away, likely something about not enough evidence or such, or plea it down to a slap on the wrist.

Does anyone else read The Trib?

No

Julie the irony is Stunning. Dan Dow time to do your job, no one including Patty Welch is above the law. All evidence is there Patty Welch you have been caught doing felony behavior, based upon court and AGPD papers. Turn yourself in Patty, you are not above the law.

Careful Democrats, your mental disorder is showing. So which way do you want it today? Fire Sessions? Keep Sessions? You clearly can’t make up your mind as it was just a short time ago your party leaders were claiming Sessions needs to be terminated which they were openly calling! How quickly the left forgets. How terribly convenient the MSM refuses to recount these past ideas and actions. But don’t worry, we’re watching. We get it and see through it. I would be laughing if it weren’t simply so sickening to watch this charade day in, day out come from the left. Clearly, none of you know whether to scratch your watch or wind your asses. What a pathetic situation.
