On May 28, 2016, Chris Olcott, a city planning and building department inspector, was having drinks with his wife and another couple at Mr. Rick’s when he noticed Isaac McCormack and Camile Chavez standing behind him at the bar. After glancing back at McCormack and Chavez several times, Olcott pushed Chavez, a special education teacher at Righetti High School.

After he bumped her the second time, Chavez pushed back. Olcott responded by hitting her in the face with his elbow, and knocking her unconscious.

While Chavez lay unconscious on the floor, Olcott punched McCormack in the back of the head three times. Chavez was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where she was treated for a concussion. McCormick was also diagnosed with a concussion.

Olcott had not met or spoken to Chavez or McCormack before the assault.

“I was struck by someone I never met before,” McCormick said. “After the bodyguards took him outside, he (Olcott) said, ‘I don’t care, I’ll do it again.’ “

“I do not know what I did to deserve such a thing,” McCormack added.

In Jan. 2018, Olcott stood trial for a felony charge of battery with serious bodily injury and a misdemeanor charge of battery.

The 13 day trial resulted in a hung jury. Chavez said she overheard a juror ask why Olcott should lose his job because of two drunk Mexicans in bar.

At a March 21 hearing, Olcott pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge in exchange for a dismissal of the felony charge. San Luis Obispo County Superior Court Judge Jacquelyn Duffy sentenced Olcott to 60 days in jail with a three-year suspended sentence, and ordered him to take alcohol addiction classes. He is slated to turn himself in on May 20.

“I cannot believe they made a deal with him when he is obviously guilty of this,” Chavez said. “Even now, I am still on medication and in therapy.”

Only the best and brightest for the City of SLO. The bat-wing mower thief, a little something on the side slim-ball, the chief of police misusing city funds for personal gain, knock out fireman, the RSO planner, the RSO Utilities worker, the toxic dumper utilities manager, the get a hooker on the job street worker, the drug importing cops, management with a propensity of verbally abusing staff (AKA Director Dick within the organization), the domestically violent public works inspector, the administration peeper, the Civil Rights violating City attorney and the list goes on. So, does the City recruit directly from CMC or does working at the City of SLO just turn people into a POS. Chris fits right in. Maybe he will be promoted to assistant City Manager! The only issue for administration is that the press got wind of this and this is exactly what Dietrick is paid to do – keep the misconduct out of the press, not stop it.

Obviously, Olcott is used to getting away with bad behavior. If he’s ever been to a bar; his behavior says he’s quite familiar with them, he would know that people trying to get the attention of the bartender is a regular thing. They had gotten their beer and plastic cups and were most likely headed outside. There’s is no excuse for this. Isaac is not a large person and certainly not what I would consider a trouble maker, and there is never a good excuse for sucker punching a woman, especially unprovoked. I hope they sue this slimeball into the poor house. He doesn’t deserve to be living on my taxes. He needs to be fired at the very least.

Sixty days will probably actually be 30. Not enough. His wife must live in fear of upsetting this jackass.

This year’s first place trophy for POS goes to Chris Olcutt, who is a woman-beater, wife beater, and “employed” SLO city building inspector on paid administrative leave. Mr. Chuck Liddell will gently present the award. Stay tuned

can you say Civil Suit for the tort of battery? It ain’t over yet son. Besides, if this woman has brothers and a father in addition to her boyfriend, you may have a blanket party coming your way.

What a scumbag. Government employs our finest people.

Wow!! What a stud. Knocking out a woman and hitting some guy in the back of his head. What a complete loser. I can’t believe he still has a job…

That is a horrific sight. This man should never be allowed to be in a position to serve the public. He is clearly out of control. Scary to think that someone this violent to a woman would be in a position to make important decisions and recommendations regarding people’s property. God forbid he would ever be allowed to own a gun.

After watching the video it looks to me Chris was squeezed out of his spot at the bar. I wonder if anything else was going on before the start of this video that contributed to his reaction. I may be a little bias but last year I built a house in SLO city limits. Chris did some of the inspections. He seemed like a good guy. I would have preferred Chris handling all my inspections. He was the only one in the Building Dept. that didn’t give me the run around.

This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever read. “he seemed like a good guy despite this video evidence that he hits women and throws sucker punches, so I’m going to ignore that and choose to believe he’s a good guy”. He had about 4 clear feet in front of him at the bar, how was he squeezed out? They came up to the bar to order, he could have just been a decent human and moved up to make a little space for them. Isn’t that kind of how bars work? They’re crowded and everyone is trying to order at the bar, so you’re not supposed to be camping out right there like an asshole…

I saw this video for the first time yesterday. The inspections were done a year ago. Chris didn’t mention he had been in a drunken bar fight two years prior to the inspections. So you think the jury spent 13 days on this one minute video and then ended in a hung jury? Or maybe there was other evidence during the 13 day trial?

simply having been helped by someone at some time does not negate their terrible actions. he violently assaulted two people in a bar (one of them a small woman), and you are willing to give him a pass because he didn’t give you the run around on some building inspections? what kind of person bases their opinions on others solely upon what they have done for you? this is a ridiculous comment.

Care to share the name of your construction company? If he’s such a good guy you shouldn’t mind sharing.

Gaslighting for a guy that hits women. What a class act.

Meaning he was the only one who didn’t do their job while you didn’t do yours and allowed you to pass off a non-code compliant turd to your client/buyer?
