Angry tirade at Paso Robles grocery store over face mask rules, video

Customers at a Smart and Final in Paso Robles witnesses an ugly confrontation earlier this month when a man refused to wear a mask, and an employee insisted.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a statewide order on June 18 that requires all Californians to wear face coverings in public places, such as grocery stores. Smart and Final then posted signs requiring their customers to wear masks while shopping in their stores.

The man entered the store without a mask, prompting a store clerk to give him a mask to wear, but he stuck it in his pocket. After arguing with the clerk, the man put the mask on for a few seconds before taking it off.

In the end, a Paso Robles police officer escorted the man from the store.

wrong on both sides maskless guy should have bailed to a less hostile grocery store… fire dept guys have no legal right in the matter other than to bully the guy and pretend to be police that they are not.. people need to stop being sheep and just keep defending your personal rights….. so glad we moved far away from that place

Based on the video, clerk committed herself to simple battery/aggravated assault by her actions. Stay back allow the police to handle the nut case. You bring more harm to yourself and those @ you. The nut case is a prime example of the majority of people in California to allow the leadership that results in this criminal sociopathic behavior. No doubt this person will roll on down and be someone else’s problem.

So with all the response it would seem the policy would dictate the responding officer(s) control or contain the situation by immediately de-escalating the parties involved. Absolutely no intervention here! Customer complying then not complying, clerk representing the business never instructed customer to leave that could be heard on video, only to wear mask. Don’t understand why police did not immediately separate the parties and remove the customer to quell the disturbance. The allowance of the two to carry on only escalates the situation. The police are not paid to teach people how to act like responsible and respectful adults….that’s your parents job.

The store has the right to make customer leave when they are not respecting the stores request to wear a mask. No shoes, no shirt, no mask not service. I applaud the store employee she gave him a mask and requested he wear it. He refused. Clearly from that screaming fit he has no health issues.

Customer lost it. Officers good job. But some of the things people post, the wish that “other customers had gang up”, insults, and name calling.

PasoParent5 is the only one talking sense here. Employees should NOT be enforcing a non-enforceable mandate such as this. If it is a store rule, do NOT chase him around like this idiot employee did. Calmly call the police and have him cited for tresspassing. This stuff has to stop.

The current State Health Order requires masks to be worn anytime you are out in public. It is enforceable.

Employees should be handing out diapers, not masks.

We have been told by the God Almighty Newsom the mask protects you from the virus. So why is it the local schools aren’t reopening? The guy was a tool and out of line.

Parents have failed America. Schools are not here to teach manners and proper social behavior. Schools have given so much to this society, to the world, yet some people still blame them for the way their children turn out. Its not safe to get your hair cut, but society has asked teachers to fight off shooters, and now they want teachers go back into crowded, poorly ventilated classrooms and risk their lives and the lives of their families because they can’t deal with having their children home all the time, then curse the schools in the next breath.

Society anymore believes that schools and the law enforcement are hear to supervise and teach your children how to become responsible, respectful and contributing members of society. Thanks to cell phones, computers and social media parents and children no longer spend time together.Thanks as well to three of the world evils the media, college campuses and antifa!

Because you are comparing apples and oranges. Children are not little adults. There needs to be a lot of planning and increased supervision before the schools can even come close to open safely.
