San Luis Obispo protest organizer speaks on national news

San Luis Obispo Black Lives Matter organizer Tianna Arata and attorney Lee Merritt continued their media campaign with ABC’s Byron Pitts, again saying that the July 21 protest was peaceful. Arata went further this time claiming the protest was “super filled with joy.”

On July 21, after congregating at Mitchell Park, Arata led approximately 300 protesters onto Highway 101 from both Osos Street and California Boulevard, blocking all lanes in both directions for nearly an hour. While on the highway, protesters ran after and blocked vehicles attempting to drive off the freeway.

Arata and her supporters have spread misinformation including claims that Arata is in jail, that charges have already been filed against her, and that she is facing 15 years in prison. Certain media outlets such as Cosmopolitan have parroted the protesters’ claim that Arata is facing up to 15 years in prison.

Officers arrested Arata following the protest, and released her shortly afterwards without bail.

SLO police officers then reviewed evidence, which includes hours of videos, before last week recommending prosecutors file five felony charges against Arata: four felony counts of false imprisonment and a felony count of conspiracy. In addition, investigators are seeking three misdemeanor charges: resisting or obstructing a peace officer, inciting a riot, and unlawful assembly.

The district attorney has not filed charges at this time.

What’s not to like? After breaking the law without regard for anyone else then threatening anyone who disagrees…. the young narcissist and her’yes mob’ get tons of free publicity. Like telling a two year old no, then dealing with the tantrum. This isn’t about a ‘conversation’ or finding a solution to a problem…with all the time on their hands they could be doing a lot to actually help real people with real needs around the county. But heck, Any publicity is good publicity and if you tell a lie long enough you start to actually believe it. Shes obviously being groomed for politics-Sacramento, Chicago… Mayor of SLO?? What a colossal waste of time.

Yeah, so peaceful parading through the streets shouting “take it to the streets, f… the police” at people who were actually being peaceful eating at a restaurant trying to support local businesses.

Did she mention the peaceful kick in the cops groin? How safe did the people feel who got their car window smashed on their 4 year old? Did the pregnant woman who they impeded from getting to the hospital matter? Throw the boom at her, kick her out of cal poly and do not bow to political pressure

I hope the DA shows this interview at her sentencing to show a lack of remorse for breaking the law and she gets a longer sentence. Lying scumbag.

Her attorneys have coached her well. If I hadn’t seen the protest videos I would almost feel bad for this soft spoken young lady. She seems to have forgotten her chant to F#ck the Police. Good PR team.

Tianna, you stated in this interview, “I have a background where I’ve seen police mistreat my closest family, since the age of like since grade school. So there always been distrust not only with me but also with marginalized communities and the police.” I respect this.

But you did not grow up in San Luis Obispo. So, the police officers in San Luis Obispo were not the officers that mistreated your closest family in your youth. Isn’t viewing, all police officers as the same as the one’s who mistreated your closest family, a form of prejudice?

MAZIN — and adding to your analysis — so if everyone put a “large net” over any population that have “BAD APPLES” then no group would be immune!! There are white supremacists — so are ALL white people bad? Some priests are child molesters — are ALL priests bad? Some Doctors are drug dealers — are ALL doctors bad? This is the most FRUSTRATING and UNFATHOMABLE part of the BLM message that I just don’t understand. So, are we supposed to hate ALL Blacks because of the ones who commit crimes?? NOT ALL COPS are bad, when you look at the things they do for our society. Also, we don’t know what circumstances her “family members” were involved in with Law Enforcement. If they were as disrespectful of Authority/Law Enforcement as she was…hmmmm…what does she consider “mistreatment.” She thinks her protest antics were “joyous and peaceful” — sorry can’t trust a thing that comes out of her mouth!

Tianna Isis Arata is a stone cold liar. At least with regards to this interview. The video of her escapades (some of which she took herself) is compelling. If there is any justice in SLO County, she’ll do some time in county jail.
