SLO climate change activist Heidi Harmon’s electric car calamity

Former San Luis Obispo mayor and climate change activist Heidi Harmon attempted to “do the right thing,” and travel to a rally in San Francisco in an electric car. After multiple attempts to find a working charging station in San Jose, Harmon realized charging the car would take up to seven hours and there was no way she could make the rally.

Harmon posted multiple videos about her difficulties in traveling in an all-electric vehicle. She discusses calling the police or asking someone to send a helicopter to rescue her.

Many of the posts have now been deleted, though a collage of portions of Harmon’s videos remains:

Harmon spearheaded an effort last summer to enact a SLO city energy policy requiring all-electric new buildings. At that time, Mayor Harmon sat on the Central Coast Community Energy Board of Directors, the electric energy company she was promoting.

Harmon stepped down from her mayoral seat in August to battle climate change, Harmon said. Harmon is now working as a senior public affairs director for the Romero Institute’s Let’s Green CA initiative, a nonprofit affiliated with Central Coast Community Energy.

On Jan. 13, Harmon was headed to San Francisco to protest against PG&E’s solar penalty fees, but was unable to attend because of issues with vehicle charging infrastructure and the time it takes to charge an electric vehicle.

Harmon posted multiple videos during her attempt to charge the electric car she was driving on the Lets Green CA Instagram page, which she later shared to her own Instagram page. Since then, some of the videos have been deleted, and Harmon disabled her personal Instagram page.

More proof that the best and brightest are very, very rarely found in politics ! She should’ve used some of her “mayor money” to get a Tesla instead, as it would have led her helpless ass straight to the nearest super charging station .

What kind of electric car was she driving?

The car isn’t the problem, the driver is.

Chevy Bolt is what I heard on the radio.

Heidi “Trying to do the right thing” = looking for something for NOTHING (but her time) and expecting someone else to PAY HER WAY!

Oh, I hate it when that happens…(eye roll)

Moving from the red rose which represents love, to yellow which represents friendship…perhaps Heidi senses people are on to to her.

What’s the best way to save our planet, Einstein? Or do we just leave the problem for the next poor sap?

Honestly the combination of her own ridiculous incompetence…. combined with the immature and equally idiotic comments from most of the people here who don’t like her.. just really make me sad for America. Where are those of us who want to have mature and rational discussions supposed to turn anymore? Both the right and the left are a big “oh hell no” for me at this point.

Rational view in my opinion? Both internal combustion and electric have their place. It’s not about “doing the right thing” it’s about figuring out the most practical solution for your particular needs. She should not have had any problem getting to her destination on a full charge, makes no sense.

You are a rare bird! I appreciate your objective comment. But I am fully to blame for this fiasco. I set her up with the car but also should have helped her plan the trip. knowing that this was her first long distance trip in an EV.

What a horrible witch – trying to find a way to distant meetings that doesn’t add to your children’s and grandchildren’s polluted skies and doesn’t guzzle fossil fuels. I can see why you all think she’s so terrible.

You’re right! She is terrible to think she should call the police or a helicopter to save her sorry @ss!

Well, you got part of comment right. The first four words.

Just a suggestion: on your next trip ride your broomstick !

Somehow this must be made to be PGE’s fault.

Nope, Trump’s fault

Did anyone see the video of VP Harris “filling” an electric car and the moronic statements and questions she asked while doing so?

“For all of us who are used to filling our tank, we, you usually can smell it, and you can hear it, and you can hear the guzzling sound,” Harris noted. “None of that.” (This is GENIUS)

The vice president then asked how she could know the car was charging for real, and Reddy did his best to explain off camera.

“But how would I know that?” Harris asked again. “Tell me how I would know that.”

“So, typically, excuse me, so typically, you’re coming, you wave this card, and then what it would do is it would authenticate, and then this light turns green,” Reddy answered.

These are two peas from the same idiotic green pod.

Heidi, you should have ridden your bike instead!
