Drunk prison guard attacks strangers in SLO, video

Jacquelyn Stuntebeck punching a security guard

By KAREN VELIE

A former prison guard unleashed a violent attack on two strangers in downtown San Luis Obispo on Friday afternoon while so drunk she was unable to button her pants.

Celebrating her 34 birthday, Jacquelyn Stuntebeck started her day by posting pictures in her Instagram story from her hotel room of a can of White Claw Hard Seltzer and a bottle of Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey. By 6:40 p.m., she was sitting outside a restaurant on Marsh Street unable to stand.

Noticing firefighters attempting to get Stuntebeck and her husband to go back to their hotel room, SLO resident Jeff Specht began filming what he refereed to as the Marsh Street Melodrama.

Without saying a word, Stuntebeck charged at Specht and punched him between the eyes. A security guard ordered the intoxicated woman to leave the area, and firefighters attempted to corral Stuntebeck.

“Babe, you want to see a shot,” Stuntebeck asked her husband before again charging at Specht and punching him repeatedly, this time drawing blood.

A security guard attempted to stop Stuntebeck, who punched the guard repeatedly. The guard handcuffed Stuntebeck and waited for officers to arrive.

Stuntebeck then informed first responders she worked for a federal prison in Taft, and that “this shit is not allowed.” She appeared to be seeking special treatment by claiming her and her husband were prison guards.

The federal government closed the Taft Correctional Institution more than three years ago.

Police officers arrived and arrested Stuntebeck on charges of battery and drunk in public before booking her in San Luis Obisbo County Jail.

The next day, Specht went to the emergency room where he was diagnosed with a concussion while Stuntebeck posted photos of her and her husband wine tasting in Edna Valley.

We have two big fancy new hotels in downtown SLO, yet tourists soon find out there is little else to do downtown but to drink and admire all the empty storefronts.

What a pig

This woman is not fit to guard a landfill, drunk or not.

Its a fact that most violent crimes are commited by perps under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Common sense flies out of the window when perps are under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Ahhh, family time in downtown SLO. Good stuff. /s/

I watched the whole video and I do want to say her husband was a Dunce ans still don’t know if the guy who handcuffed her was Police or not. So you have about 5 trained people there trying to talk to her to calm the situation down with no luck. The defund Police people want to send people out instead of Police to solve problems like this and this is a good example why it won’t work. The Fire Dept and medics did all they could and commend them on that . The homeless man seems used to all of the action

Where were the police?

Apparently they retired!

She definitely should of been arrested but confused as Fire Department was there before Police and the person who handcuffed her didn’t look like a police officer as didn’t look like he had a badge showing or worded Police on his body. A drunk person would have a hard time believing he was the Police even if he said he was. Her husband blew it as he should got her away from the situation better.

Am I the only one who thinks Specht should have minded his own business? I don’t excuse her behavior, but his filming of it was clearly agitating her. He could have easily deescalated the situation by walking away.

I have to agree even though you have the right to film things sometimes common sense could be used to possibly help someone else out

Specht was as every bit as annoying, anti-social and responsible for the “melodrama” as the drunk woman. Pervasive, invasive cellphone usage that invades peoples’ sense of privacy and personal space acts as a catalyst to increase tensions and confrontation. This stupid obsession to video record everyone and everything is so juvenile and pathetic. It used to be a societal norm that we showed fellow citizens consideration, respect and gave them their personal space and privacy. We helped them if they stumbled or experienced medical emergencies. Nowadays so many peoples’ first inclination is not a helping hand but rather a raised hand clenched to a cellphone.

Although I find her behavior to be horrible, he seemed to purposely be trying to antagonize her. He continued to try and stay right in the mix, moving around people, just to keep videoing her. Not necessary or helpful, and I too agree that he should have just stopped.

Jeff Specht’s lack of common sense and empathy are why we the people continually refuse to vote him into public office.

Agreed. Everyone else involved tried to deescalate the situation by shielding Specht and Stuntebeck from seeing each other, but every single time, Specht would move so not only could he film Stuntebeck but that she would see him doing it and be antagonized by it. Sure, what he was doing wasn’t illegal, but it was anti-social and not helping the situation. It is not as extreme as that idiot “SLO County Observer” who makes a point of getting into people’s faces and filming them for his own perverse pleasure, but it seems to be now a common “sport” to roam around looking to be a social justice warrior and film anything even mildly interesting while trying to antagonize anyone who dislikes it.
