Cal Poly offers emotional services for students upset over election

Concerned that university students at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo would need help coping with the presidential election, Cal Poly offered counseling and psychological services. At least one teacher canceled classes to allow students time to process.

On Nov. 5, Cal Poly Counseling and Psychological Services offered a Zoom decompression session to help students “experiencing election day stress.”

Then, on Nov. 7, the campus provided refreshments, relaxing exercises and one-on-one counseling sessions at the university housing community center.

Multiple U.S. universities offered emotional help for distraught students following the 2024 election, including the University of Oregon which provided time with a therapy duck while sipping hot apple cider; Virginia Tech offered therapy dogs and guided stretching; and some professors at Harvard canceled classes on Wednesday and extended course work deadlines.

All this hand-wringing about the Democratic primary process from people who did not participate in it is pretty rich. Did you want them to re-run the entire primary process? 14 million voted for Biden in the primaries and over 72 million voted for Kamala in the general, so I think the affected voters were ok with it and if not, they were welcome to do a write-it for the candidate of their choice. There have been plenty of times when the people’s nominee didn’t remain the eventual candidate.

SO explain why during the 2016 the Democrats were so cunning as to steal an election when a Republican was in office but were somehow not smart enough to “rig” an election when a Democrate was in office? You can be pedantic about it, but more than 1,070 people who cosplayed insurrection on Jan 6th were charged with various crimes, many of them felonies. That’s a fact.

No, they did far worse the last time a democrat won the election. Some conservative students (or former students) “handled their emotions” on January 6th by storming the capital. Poor babies indeed!

Ja. 6th wasn’t a concern for the majority of the voters this election cycle. It seems to be an issue democrats banked on helping them win and in the process lost touch with the real issues concerning voters.
