Yes on Proposition 50 massively outraises the no campaign

October 26, 2025

By KAREN VELIE

Democrats have raised more than two times the monies raised by opponents of Proposition 50 – mid-decade partisan redistricting. Polling shows 57%  likely to vote yes on Prop. 50.

Proponents of prop. 50 have raised more than $114 million. The yes campaign’s largest contributors include a House Majority PAC  controlled by Democrats and the Fund for Policy Reform, which is controlled by George Soros.

Raising $44 million, opponents of Prop. 50 lag well behind proponents. Donating $30 million, Republican Charles Munger Jr., a proponent of independent redistricting commissions, is the no campaigns largest donor.

Proponents of Prop. 50 argue that the partisan redistricting effort is a needed response to Republican promoted gerrymandering in Texas and other conservative states. They accuse President Donald Trump of promoting mid-term redistricting so that Republicans can continue to control the House.

On the other side, opponents of Prop. 50 are against remaking congressional maps in an attempt to advantage California Democrats in the 2026 congressional elections because it undermines the will of voters, erodes public trust and disenfranchises voters.

All right! It’s about time we start doing everything Texas does. ;-j

Starting with charging up Old Sparky

And fully supporting the 2nd Amendment with concealed and open carry, along with no restrictions on firearm function.

But, they can keep their Houston, El Paso and Austin politics.

Why are my posts being deleted?

Mine too!

Mine too. I just figured they only want certain types of opinions, but certainly not mine

What Proposition 50 really illustrates is the “fluidity” of California voters. Most awake voters recall that just a few short years ago, we passed Prop. 11. But, if it’s true, that Prop. 50 will pass; doesn’t that indicate that California voters are too fluid to the point of being irresponsible? It harkens back to the election of Schwarzenegger. Californians joyfully voted in “the Terminator”. Once in, the voters failed to support his common-sense reforms in California.

It certainly cost allot of money to buy votes for stupid. Common sense can be free, so what’s the news in wasting money. So, work hard, sleep well, eat a healthy breakfast, take your shower and then go vote your conscious. BINGO It’s that simple, no marches, squeezing money out of your neighbors or corporate sponsors are required.

The problem with prop 50 is it allows the chopping up of conservative inland communities to include liberal coastal areas that have little in common. The result is millions of Californians will lose their representation in congress. Why should a farmer in the valley have a congressional representative voted in by coastal residents with very different interests? Taking away representation is never a good thing.

Opponents to 50 have raised less that $11,000,000.00 (not $44 million as stated). Not that it matters but some of us like the truth.

Trump is totally out of control so, no wonder. He needs to be impeached and removed from office asap. This countries reputation and role as a leading nation has been all but destroyed in less than 1 year. Imagine what four years of this maniac would do! Vote YES on prop 50!!!

Yawn…

See comment below mine and tell me you’re still yawning…

How very sad! TDS is costing Californians an absolute fortune! This is the perfect example! $200+Million will go to the greedy politicians egos instead of helping the People., like is was suppose to? I resent my tax dollars going for these Political games while our Kids and Vets sleep in the streets!!

And BTW,

Prop 50 Won’t make the Orange Man go Away!

2026 will be brutal for republicans.

2024-2036 (at minimum) will continue to be maddening for low-IQ anti-Americans.

Those of us in the current vast majority are loving every single minute of being led by a competent POTUS here at home and on the world stage.

#DeathToTheDemoNcratPARTY (WE THE PEOPLE are doing this right now in real time)

A-town clown wonders why his posts are deleted…perfect maga poster child who adds nothing to the conversation.

Ha ha, the Pot calling the Kettle black!

Hey flipside.. ALL votes on your comments are negative? Give it buddy. The world does not agree with you. You lose!

Ahh, that’s why your posts are being pulled, Reb. That “hashtag”.

I was warned to no longer post opines for the “terminal negative health status” of certain individuals who, with all due respect, warranted such “life diversions”.

You deserve Mamdani types. You’ve worked so hard to get them. Enjoy the benefits!

Flipper has no idea, that there are more red states that can redistrict democrats out, than vice versa…

No idea? I have no doubt those states that can gerrymander will and are actively doing so.

Of course it is raising more money since a lot of the money is funneled taxpayer funds.

Not consistent with the facts. Please show your source that either the House Majority Pac or the Soros Foundation take taxpayer’s money.

Start with the $282 million price tag for the election, then add $2 million to send out corrected voter guides.all taxpayer funded.

We spent over $200 million on the Republican recall election in 2023. But your original comment suggested that taxpayers were giving money to Democratic fundraising organizations. Not true.

A recall is allowed by the state Constitution. This redistricting boondoggle….is not. The citizens of California already enumerated the will of the people, by creating a politically neutral committee to create districts, as per population and demographics.

Plus Newsom’s statement that the voter passed prop 36 can not be fully funded, to the tune of $236 million, because of the states budget crisis, but somehow he found $286 million for his gerrymandering prop 50?, explain that. Apparently only a budget crisis in the state for things Newsom opposes but somehow he finds our money for things he wants

Money doesn’t matter anymore… it makes no difference… this is a bad bill and the people know it… it will cause problems all over the state….

What problems will it cause in California? My guess most republicans can not articulate a truthful reason aside from Newsom bad. Plus it’s over in 2031 and goes back to the way it is currently.

Gerrymandering should be outlawed for all parties.

Basically, our state Constitution requires redistricting by a neutral party. This bill was voted for and passed. The “Sacramento Kings” have decided that us peons are not worthy of having a non-partisan committee, and have deemed only THEY are wise enough to redistrict the state to their personal liking.

THAT’S the problem.

The original assertion was that it’s going to cause problems all over the state. What problems wil occur?

If it passes it will be the will of the voters. Unlike Texas where they were told to do it and they did. But I assume republicans were ok with that?

So your problem is , unlike Texas, where they just did it California will vote on it? Doesn’t sound king like to me. Plus in 2031 it goes back to the original maps as they were drawn.

.

The entire state can vote on whether they want it to happen or not. Unlike in Texas where it was unilaterally crammed down the voters throats by Abbott and the Republicans.

This is a Democracy. We are voting again. You don’t want the majority to decide?

That is the entire point of the committee. It stops the legislative majority, democrats, from running roughshod over the state.

When the majority decides California will be returned to Mexico, are you going to be happy living in a 3rd world country?

We’ve been germandered for a long time through the “Independent commission”. Please explain why north county is in the same district with that nepo baby penetta

Nothing government does is temporary no matter what they say… And the problems all over California will be lawsuits for non representation… parts of the inland areas of the state are already drawing up plans for secession… Prop 50 will cause the state to rebel against Sacramento and they will take their fight to the supreme court which will hold up Prop 50 indefinitely… so you won’t even enjoy it in the next election… its was a waste of money that we don’t have…..

So in other words nothing. No one will secede Won’t be permanent. And it will only need to be in place until next year.

You really think democrats will give up that kind of advantage?… there is no way… prop 50 will go to the supreme court… it will never get enacted in time for 2026…

You are 100% correct in regards to where this is headed.

The low-IQ amongst us cannot comprehend what has not been spoon fed to them by their mastah’s.

If there won’t be an articulated harm, can you explain why gerrymandering should be illegal then?

Gerrymandering has been used by both parties to influence elections. Allowing politicians to manipulate voting maps that take away power from the voter.

If all 50 states had non- partisan election commissions then it would theoretically be a none issue. Texas has no such commission and you get what we saw with redistricting by political party mid cycle.

For the only reason of gaining political power.

Texas absolutely has a district drawing committee. From the Texas House:

The committee shall have 15 members, with jurisdiction over all matters pertaining to:

  (1) legislative districts, both house and senate, and any changes or amendments;

  (2) congressional districts, their creation, and any changes or amendments;

  (3) establishing districts for the election of judicial officers or of governing bodies or representatives of political subdivisions or state agencies as required by law; and

  (4) preparations for the redistricting process.

When all you have is lies….

Keep up please. We are talking about non partisan election committees. Texas does not have non partisan election committees.

Speaking of “if all you have is lies”. Trump trying to talk in Japan was full of them. Dementia is real…
