Update: Paso Robles police officers charged Megan Fletcher with DUI. Shortly after 9 a.m., a school staffer reported Fletcher was intoxicated. Officers arrived, escorted Fletcher from the campus and charged her with driving drunk to the Paso Robles High School campus.

Law enforcement officers removed the principal of Paso Robles High School from campus on Monday because of alleged intoxication, according to a school official.

On Monday morning, officers walked 42-year-old Megan Fletcher from campus. Shortly afterwards, Paso Robles Joint Unified School District administrators placed Fletcher on administrative leave.

According to the San Luis Obispo County Jail logs, Fletcher was not booked into jail. The Paso Robles Police Department has not yet responded to questions about the incident.

For months, members of the community have accused Fletcher of excessive drinking and questionable driving.

On June 15, while driving a school district Expedition, Fletcher allegedly made a U-turn on Highway 46 East near Shandon and hit a boat trailer. While the other driver pulled over, Fletcher allegedly drove by while flashing a peace sign.

Area residents have voiced concerns that she was not held accountable at the time. CalCoastNews will provide additional information after it becomes available.

My apologies, but many of us have/had jobs far more stressful than a small town high school principle, (for which she was well compensated.) The employee who called the PRPD and asked for a response should be promoted. I suspect Ms. Fletcher’s conduct has been ongoing and there are some within the District who, for whatever reason provided cover for her.

The level of disrespect to the children, parents and fellow educators is off the charts.

No excuse for DWD, hit and run. But she has the most stressful position of any school position in any town in the USA. Political angst has polluted a great town. Especially the school district.

The most stressful position of any school position in any town in the US? In wine country. Really?

Politics has absolutely nothing to do with a grown adult choosing to get behind the wheel after drinking.

Fine example for the kids.

I am against this dumb lady’s actions. I also think if there was ever an opportunity to turn one’s life around- this lady should seize the moment. GO to a rehab, get the actual problem well under control and try to turn a bad moment into an example for the kids and the community at large. How many kids have a parent that drives drunk and scares them? Plenty. If this principal is a leader, it would be a good thing for all involved if she grabbed the bull by the horns and went on to make a turn in her life. Its super common to have alcoholism- many successful people in high positions are alcoholics. Many people in all socioeconomic classes have alcoholism. Its a tough one, especially in “wine country” where it is so ingrained into the culture. Look at the stupid dishtowels and tshirts at any of the wineries: “Mommy wants her wine” or “Chardonnay all day”. Yes, this lady has a problem. So who among us doesnt know an alcoholic? Lots of “functioning alcoholics” in business…..

Wow, not really her year is it?

Great reporting Karen! If she is accused of a crime why was she not booked into the county jail like anybody else? 5 months ago? Something fishy about this.

Nice!!! I remember my martini lunches. Cut her some slack. l love it. lol

She is having martini breakfasts, hopefully not with the football team.

Unlike you the rest of us dont want to be killed on the rd by drunks or have are family members killed by drunk drivers.

This drunken behavior would explain the OTJ low-IQ decision making about tranny rights of the EXTREME fringe minority overriding the rights of the VAST majority.

Let’s examine the P.R. school board next. Btw, we know that K. Enney is NOT in on the subversion of the vast majority opinion on this specific matter.

Yes, I went there!

Silent no more.

@REBEL…i aDMirE youR UsaGE of ALL-capS. I am nOT that good at IT. WheN i dO it, i come aCROSs as low-IQ as you SAY.

Are you drunk atown clown?

Drunk at lunchtime!

Likely also drunk back in June when driving the district’s vehicle and caused an accident and fled. So many questions, why did it take the district so long to take action?, if I had an accident in a company vehicle, and drunk and fled, likely would be fired immediately. Of course in CA being a drunk is disability especially for the protected class. Did the school district only decide to take action because they failed at keeping this issue undercover and it was going to be exposed. Also, why is the district purchasing a Expedition, a $50,000+ vehicle for a single occupant trip, many good $20,000 vehicles that would have worked, of course when its other people money the sky’s the limit.

Not really lunch time – Shortly after 9 a.m., a school staffer reported Fletcher was intoxicated. Officers arrived, escorted Fletcher from the campus and charged her with driving drunk to the Paso Robles High School campus.
