Hysteria abounds following fatal ICE shooting

OPINION by JODY LANGFORD

A lot of factual details are being ignored amongst all the hysteria and gas lighting from the left. First, Renee Good was not innocent – she was fleeing arrest.

Of course we don’t shoot people fleeing unless they are an imminent and dangerous threat. Fleeing was not the reason for the shooting. Lies being propagated that an innocent woman was murdered are intended to inflame people and incite rioting.

Now, it is factually clear that Good turned her wheels and drove towards an officer. It is not relevant whether this was intentional or accidental or negligent. It is also not relevant if she actually struck or barely missed the officer.

The only thing relevant is whether this movement was enough for a reasonable person in the same circumstances as the officer (who was previously injured by another vehicular assault) to have felt imminent fear for their lives while dealing with an irrational and unpredictable criminal subject.

Again, we don’t shoot citizens for accidentally striking someone with a vehicle. But this wasn’t an innocent citizen, she was fleeing and evading. The last part changes everything.

Because she was in the midst of committing a crime, she purposefully and intentionally created a dynamic and dangerous situation. Therefore, it was perfectly reasonable for the officer to correctly (or incorrectly) believe she was intending to run him, and maybe others, over.

But beliefs don’t rely upon correctness. They rely upon reasonable judgements. And in the dynamic criminal chaos that Good purposefully created, it was reasonable to employ deadly force to protect against a deadly threat.

Did Good “deserve” it? “Deserves got nothing to do with it,” to quote William Munny, played by Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven. Good was LARPing (live action role playing) and foolish.

She had been interfering with and harassing the ICE agents all day. Her criminal act of fleeing while guns were reasonably drawn was no one’s choice but hers. Good alone, is responsible for her own regrettable demise.

Predictably, the Tribune is attacking San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow over his support of the ICE agents and their actions in this incident, accusing him of “exploiting a national tragedy” and of “jumping to conclusions.” This is quite laughable as that is exactly what the Tribune and the left were doing while the situation was still fluid in Minnesota.

The Tribune has reached the point of ridiculousness in their relentless “bullying” and harassment of Dow.

His detractors think that apparently he gives up all personal rights by being an elected official…but the elected officials who further their cause can actually use their elected positions to incite rioting and violence. This is acceptable to the left.

Dow has always voiced his opinions as a citizen, not as district attorney. They also have done a pathetic job of pointing out any flaws in Dow’s posts. They just continuously attack him.

We are fortunate to have a man of such quality and character leading the district attorney’s office in this county.

Jody Langford is a retired California Highway Patrol officer who lives in San Luis Obispo County.

Be kind, obey the law and live. Simple!

No one is happy that this poor woman is now dead. She choose a dangerous activity that day, messing with federal law enforcement with her actions, words and three thousand pound vehicle. She should have spent the day with her children doing something positive.

The author is saying the driver turned the wheel towards the officer. How is that? The officer is on the left and the car turned to the right before shooting.

The author is either:

Watching the video upside down.

Lying

Or dyslexic.

Gaslight much, Jody? Everybody saw what happened on the video.

Yes we did. Good found out what it’s like to be a freedumb fighter.

Yes we did, good take Jody!

When there is no logical rebuttal to an argument the opponents’ tactics revert to attacks on character, creation of chaos (shouting), or avoidance. Marxism.

Good was guilty of what crime while parked in the street? Did they think she was here illegally? ICE don’t have any legal authority outside of detaining people who they assume are here illegally. They are not law enforcement officers. ICE cannot legally arrest US citizens

All vehicles were able to drive around her and had. Hell , they could have boxed her in if they wanted with their cars but didn’t. They chose to stand in the open and put themselves in danger.

ICE is not law enforcement. Plain and simple

Seems google/Wikipedia/US Gov’t disagree with you about them not being law enforcement.

“The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is a federal law enforcement agency under the United States Department of Homeland Security. Its stated mission is to conduct criminal investigations, enforce immigration laws, preserve national security, and protect public safety”

E = Enforcement

ICE’s only legal authority is to enforce immigration and customs laws. That’s it.

They have no legal authority over American citizens.

They are post-certified federal police officers, who work for immigration.

Are you comparing what ICE considered Basic Law Enforcement Training post? 13 weeks or less of “ training” do your research and come back and let us know what CHP Academy consists of? Then how long the FTO process is before they are on their own.

Only 12 weeks. And it is rumored to be shortened to hire people. Sounds safe to me.

Again with the low-info (IQ) types that keep nipping at the adults heels with their annoying, mindless yapping.

2003-Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (BICE)

2007-Just referred to as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)

Pre-2003-(BICE/ICE) is simply the renaming of the old school “la migra” (border jumping ILLEGAL INVADERS knew/know what that means) aka Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS).

Regardless of low-IQ FEELINGS, *all predecessor agencies and iterations have been considered federal law enforcement entities back to 1789.

Now shut up, sit down and leave the Rule of Law understanding and enforcement to those that actually have triple digit IQ’s.

*FEEL FREE TO FACT CHECK, IF CAPABLE OF SUCH.

You know who else are “ Law Enforcement “ Food inspectors have you ever seen them pull a car over? Postal inspectors as well. Ever seen them do a felony stop? Watch out for Parking Enforcement! They are looking out for immigrants who can’t park.

Again, people laugh at your posts. Go back to quoting made up quotes. At least you were somewhat humorous in your ignorance.

So, does LE, of any stripe, simply call 911 after such a confrontation when someone is badly injured, and then rush to their vehicle and drive away? Never seen such a thing. No, this was murder with malice. “Fucking bitch” indeed. The message is clear, Mr. Langford, protest ICE and you risk your life, no matter what color skin you have. Sets up well for the midterm elections when these armed thugs will be at every polling place in swing districts, checking credentials and intimidating citizens. Welcome to dystopia.

So you think police decide if you live or die? Why did he get in front of the vehicle?

Congratulations for the most obtuse comment I’ve read this year – of course it’s only January…. Your first sentence attributes thinking to the author that he didn’t express – yeah, you completely made that up all by yourself.

As for your question; I believe, but don’t know, that the officer placed himself in front of the parked car to keep the suspect from attempting to flee while being detained. Duh!

Police officers are trained not to stand in front of vehicles for this very reason. This agent has been hit once before for doing just that.

Everything you say is factual and indisputable. But because of all the bots and idiots on this site, your comment will be voted down.

ICE ain’t cops, and net search says they have no such policy

Sheriff’s can ONLY arrest in the county? Local PD can ONLY arrest in the city? CHP can ONLY arrest on the highway? State Police can ONLY arrest in Sacramento?

See how dumb you sound?

Can ICE pull you over for speeding? All of those agencies you mentioned can. ICE can’t.

Uhm, you completely misunderstood, Army. I was replying to slowdown2’s remark about cops being trained NOT to stand in front of vehicles. ICE ain’t cops, they’re federal agents. And a net search indicated, for what it’s worth, that ICE has no policy about not standing in front of parked cars.

So nah, I don’t see how dumb I sound, but I do see how you missed the point…

I understood your post.

ICE are indeed Federal Law Enforcement officials (not “cops). Have been since 1789.

Yes, 17…….89.

No they make their desision on whether they or you die….

The police of whatever stripe have the power of summary execution over you. Never forget that. If it can happen to some dike in Minnesota, it can happen to you. What could go wrong with giving mouth-breathing dumb fucks a few weeks of marginal training, a 9mm pistol, a bad attitude, and $50 long to “enforce” our “immigration laws”?

Y’all sleep well, you’re next when .gov doesn’t like what you do.

I support ICE! And I also support Dan Dow!
