Hysteria abounds following fatal ICE shooting

OPINION by JODY LANGFORD

A lot of factual details are being ignored amongst all the hysteria and gas lighting from the left. First, Renee Good was not innocent – she was fleeing arrest.

Of course we don’t shoot people fleeing unless they are an imminent and dangerous threat. Fleeing was not the reason for the shooting. Lies being propagated that an innocent woman was murdered are intended to inflame people and incite rioting.

Now, it is factually clear that Good turned her wheels and drove towards an officer. It is not relevant whether this was intentional or accidental or negligent. It is also not relevant if she actually struck or barely missed the officer.

The only thing relevant is whether this movement was enough for a reasonable person in the same circumstances as the officer (who was previously injured by another vehicular assault) to have felt imminent fear for their lives while dealing with an irrational and unpredictable criminal subject.

Again, we don’t shoot citizens for accidentally striking someone with a vehicle. But this wasn’t an innocent citizen, she was fleeing and evading. The last part changes everything.

Because she was in the midst of committing a crime, she purposefully and intentionally created a dynamic and dangerous situation. Therefore, it was perfectly reasonable for the officer to correctly (or incorrectly) believe she was intending to run him, and maybe others, over.

But beliefs don’t rely upon correctness. They rely upon reasonable judgements. And in the dynamic criminal chaos that Good purposefully created, it was reasonable to employ deadly force to protect against a deadly threat.

Did Good “deserve” it? “Deserves got nothing to do with it,” to quote William Munny, played by Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven. Good was LARPing (live action role playing) and foolish.

She had been interfering with and harassing the ICE agents all day. Her criminal act of fleeing while guns were reasonably drawn was no one’s choice but hers. Good alone, is responsible for her own regrettable demise.

Predictably, the Tribune is attacking San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow over his support of the ICE agents and their actions in this incident, accusing him of “exploiting a national tragedy” and of “jumping to conclusions.” This is quite laughable as that is exactly what the Tribune and the left were doing while the situation was still fluid in Minnesota.

The Tribune has reached the point of ridiculousness in their relentless “bullying” and harassment of Dow.

His detractors think that apparently he gives up all personal rights by being an elected official…but the elected officials who further their cause can actually use their elected positions to incite rioting and violence. This is acceptable to the left.

Dow has always voiced his opinions as a citizen, not as district attorney. They also have done a pathetic job of pointing out any flaws in Dow’s posts. They just continuously attack him.

We are fortunate to have a man of such quality and character leading the district attorney’s office in this county.

Jody Langford is a retired California Highway Patrol officer who lives in San Luis Obispo County.

Thank God, our Lord Jesus Christ, that you are no longer in law enforcement. Amen.

A simple question for the anti-American left here: If I throw a brick through your front window, who are you going to call? If I drive over your dog, who are you going to call? If I slap you silly, who are you going to call?

Don’t tell us it will be the Police. You already proved that you disavow their authority.

Gonna call ICE of course. Dolt

How is recognizing that ICE doesn’t have authority over American citizens anti-American? You seem to have a basic misunderstanding about how law enforcement works and who to call. However, if anybody chose to do any of those things I would suggest calling an ambulance.

ICE cannot detain citizens for immigration violations—citizens cannot violate immigration law. However, ICE agents can arrest citizens for federal crimes under Title 18 when they have probable cause, for any criminal offense committed in the agent’s presence under § 1357(a)(4) including state crimes, and for felonies committed outside their presence if there’s reason to believe the person might escape under § 1357(a)(5).

ICE can also briefly detain citizens during investigations under reasonable suspicion standards from Terry v. Ohio. The September 2025 Supreme Court ruling held ICE can consider appearance, language, and behavior in reasonable suspicion.

Trying to drive over a federal agent, absolutely falls under their jurisdiction. ICE is Homeland Security, and NOT attached to Border Control.

Feel free to include the rest for context.

Presence” Rule (§ 1357(a)(5)(A)): An agent can arrest for any federal crime committed in their presence, but this is often in the context of their immigration duties.

Felony Arrests (§ 1357(a)(5)(B)): For felonies, agents need reasonable belief the person committed it, must be performing immigration duties, and need to show an escape risk before a warrant can be obtained.

Citizens & Warrants: ICE cannot deport U.S. citizens, and while they can detain them temporarily for crimes interfering with their duties (like assaulting an officer), arrests for general crimes or entry into homes typically require a judicial warrant (not just an internal ICE warrant).

Thank you for supporting the facts that wrecked your own comment.

They have Police authority, and you agreed.

They have law enforcement duties within the context of immigration.

You’re on dope.

Yep, its working people aren’t talking about the epstein files.

We’ve been trying to, but the left keeps trying to kill federal agents and hogging the headlines.

The Clintons failed to show up to testify to congress after months of delays and wrangling by their attorneys. Epstein visited the white house 19 times while Bill Clinton was president and set up the corrupt Clinton foundation.

Your point? Whats that have to do with Trump?

I can’t believe how gay you sound

Thank you to all the people here who have inspired me to be nothing like them.

Interesting video that Jody and the rest of you should see and understand about ICE and their practice of standing in front of cars to escalate an incident.

Lol YT

Please follow that up with the summary made by The View.

Who btw, admitted Good was up to no such thing. They finally saw the light. For once.

Please continue watching The View. It makes a lot of sense about you and your postings

Absolutely disgusting, Jody. This paper and these commenters make me absolutely sick. He was not in mortal danger and murdered a woman, probably because ICE is trained for 47 days (yes, 47 so that they can continue to fawn over the bloated cheetoh). Y’all are fuxking awful. We’re allowed to protest. They aren’t allowed to murder citizens. I see who would have been on the side of the Nazis. Once this is all over, you are never going to be able to wash away the stain of inhumanity and cruelty that you all enabled and supported.

The only thing vile in this site are the low-IQ types that continue fledgling their jaws about laws they do NOT understand because of feelings.

FACT (for the low-IQ):

Tim Walz Signed 2020 Law Clarifying Use of Deadly Force by Officers

In July 2020, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed the Minnesota Police Accountability Act, which included amendments to Minnesota Statute § 609.066. This law clarified the circumstances under which peace officers can use deadly force, particularly in situations involving vehicles. Specifically, it allows officers to use deadly force if they face an imminent threat of death or great bodily harm — including when a vehicle is accelerating toward them — without being required to wait for physical impact.

The statute states that deadly force is justified if an “objectively reasonable officer” believes it is necessary to prevent death or serious injury, based on the totality of circumstances. This includes assessing whether the threat is specific, likely to occur without immediate action, and requires a prompt response. The law was part of broader police reform efforts following the murder of George Floyd.

FAFO that the Rule of Law is back in place across America!

You sir are an idiot. So your saying a state law applies to a federal organization that has its own use of force policies? There is medication for what you have.

When they run out of people with black or brown skin, or those with “accents”, and the problems of this country still exist, who shall they come for next? Hmmm?

Now you can hate on “the left” all you want, but it’s clear Donald Trump is a despicable human being with no moral compass, a man who worships at the altar of wealth by any means possible, who demonizes immigrants, but only those immigrants who aren’t white and come from “good” European countries.

This is the party of “law and order,” the party of “family” values, the party of “fiscal responsibility” and the party of “Christian” values.

Hopefully, they, with our inclusion, start getting rid of the low-IQ, anti-American Libocrats amongst us.

Vehicles: The law allows officers to use deadly force if they face an imminent threat from a vehicle (e.g., one accelerating toward them) and are not required to wait for physical impact. However, where feasible, officers are advised in use-of-force policies to take reasonable steps to move out of the path of an approaching vehicle instead of shooting at it.

You seemed to omit the part where they are told to move instead of shooting. iCE is instructed not to stand in front of vehicles as well.

You truly are a moron.keep trying my friend. You need to get some people with triple digit IQs and see if it rubs off on you.

He was not in front of it, until she turned the wheel and BACKED UP, swinging the front end of the SUV in line with the agent. Putting the SUV in drive, spinning the tires and accelerating, instantly closed the distance between the agent and the vehicle.

Regardless of his position on the street, she attempted to flee a legal detainment by federal law enforcement. So, she was committing a felony, while driving her vehicle at the agent.

There is no argument about this. The factual timeline, is supported by multiple video angles. Except, of course, the first hand audio and video from her partner, Rebecca.

Lefties need their martyrs. Be it George Floyd or Abrego Garcia or Renee Good. Each one flawed in its own way, each one played out for maximum effect. The mass media play along while they get clicks; the rest of us yawn and carry on. Common sense prevails, eventually.

So Donald Trump = common sense to you?

Got it.

Yes.

My America loves his LEADERSHIP.

And we’re just getting started.
