Police said he told them he was angry at the 12-pound dog and wanted to see it die.
Shortly after 4 p.m., a 911 caller hung up before explaining the emergency, but not before a dispatcher heard the caller say “he is hurting the dog.”
When police arrived, the occupants of the apartment refused to allow them entry. Police obtained a pass-key, entered the apartment and found the dead dog hanging from its collar on the boy’s bedroom door handle.
Police booked the suspect into Monterey County Juvenile Hall for felony cruelty to an animal. Officers say he showed no remorse for his actions.
