Shelly Higginbotham running for District 3 supervisor
May 18, 2015
Pismo Beach Mayor Shelly Higginbotham announced Monday her candidacy for the San Luis Obispo County supervisor seat currently held by Adam Hill.
Higginbotham joins San Luis Obispo Councilman Dan Carpenter, former Grover Beach Mayor Debbie Peterson and Hill in a race for the District 3 seat. The district includes Edna Valley, Avila Beach, Pismo Beach, Shell Beach and Grover Beach and a portion of San Luis Obispo.
“The 3rd District deserves a County Supervisor with a fresh service oriented spirit which respects all constituents, provides rational open decision making, and eliminates old fashion personal politics,” Higginbotham said in a press release. “With a responsive approach, reinforced by my years of proven local elected community service, I will work tirelessly to extend our economic and civic prosperity and, in so doing, enhance the resources to protect our exceptional communities.”
Higginbotham is currently the president of the League of California Cities – Channel Counties Division — which covers 25 cities in the San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties.
In 2012, the Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce named Shelly Higginbotham and her husband Dr. Robert Higginbotham citizens of the year.
