Morro Bay 4Crew members of a fishing boat and a fellow passenger on a commercial dinner boat rescued a man who fell overboard in the Morro Bay Harbor Friday evening. [Tribune]

The 59-year-old man was one of 22 passengers aboard the Papagallo II for its Friday dinner cruise. Shortly after 8 p.m., the currently unnamed man fell overboard as the ship cruised in the Morro Bay Harbor.

After hearing a splash and spotting the man upside down in the water, another passenger on the Papagallo II jumped in the water to assist the unconscious victim. Crew members of the Morro Bay Oyster Company skiff then helped pull the victim out of the water and started first aid.

An ambulance transported the victim to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo. He is listed in critical condition

KSBY is reporting that the victim died. Sounds like the people who assisted in his rescue acted pretty quickly. I wonder if the victim had a heart attack or something.

How very sad!

Hmmmm…did alcohol consumption have ANYTHING to do with the passenger falling overboard?
