Woman killed in SLO County crash
September 9, 2015
A 20-year-old woman died Tuesday evening in a crash that also sparked a brush fire along Highway 166 east of Highway 33 in San Luis Obispo County.
Shortly before 6 p.m., the Cuyama woman’s Chevrolet Suburban drifted off the road, went down into a ravine and caught fire. The woman was ejected from her vehicle and died at the scene. Her name is not being released pending notification of her next of kin.
The blaze scorched one-tenth of an acre before fire crews extinguished the flames.
Investigators from the California Highway Patrol are investigating the accident. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have been factors in the fatal crash.
