San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Adam Hill responded to a set of CalCoastNews questions about his work for a consulting business with a claim on his campaign Facebook page that he is not a paid lobbyist or consultant. Hill is running for reelection for the District 3 seat.

CalCoastNews sent a list of questions to Hill after discovering through government and company documents that Hill was moonlighting as a paid consultant for a company tied to a prominent local developer. On his latest financial disclosure form, Hill lists his position with San Luis Consulting as a consultant.

CalCoastNews emailed a list of questions to Hill asking about his consulting work that included: “How much money did you receive from San Luis Consulting in 2014 and 2015?” and “How do you advertise your consulting business?”

Instead of answering the questions, on Tuesday evening, Hill posted a statement claiming he is being targeted by CalCoastNews on behalf of his political opponents.

Hill’s statement:

“Today I was made aware that Cal Coast News will be coming after me yet again. Like others CCN has targeted, they are going to claim (with anonymous sources and no facts – once again) that I am a ‘paid lobbyist’ or consultant or whatever.

“I’m not any kind of lobbyist, or whatever, no matter how much CCN would like people to believe that.

“Well, I do freelance editing and writing, as I’ve done since Grad school. I declare all income, pay all taxes, and declare it. And I had it reviewed years ago by a Sacramento attorney. And I had it reviewed and registered by a local attorney.

“So there are the facts on this latest hit piece. I had a great day today at the Board, getting a 5-0 vote to update our Avila area plan.

“Haters like CCN are dishonest, because they don’t disclose that the reason they attack people like me is because it’s campaign season. And they are doing so on behalf of my opponents.

“Take CCN for what it’s worth – nothing.”

Perhaps he will claim the position taken by several of our elected and former elected officials, “It was a clerical error”

Hill’s response reminds me of the famous Harpo Marx comment upon being discovered by his wife in a very compromising position with another: “Are you going to believe me, or your own lying eyes?”

Deny deny deny

Attack the messenger not the message

Not a good way to come clean.

What else do you expect Hill to say? It is a very similar response to what a person accused of a crime (shooting, robbery, drunk driving, etc., etc.) gives in court. Always the plea is innocent, someone else did it or is framing me.

But the real answer to all of Hill’s’ vows of innocence’ or ‘someone is out to get me’

pleas is very simple – the ballot box.

If, and only if, enough of the voters in Hill’s district make the logical conclusion that

their interests are not being served by this egomaniac and use the one and only legal method to vote him out of office at the earliest opportunity. If not, then that says much, much more about the gullibility of voters than anything else.

We have become such a partisan citizenry that Hill will continue to get elected by merely painting his opponents as Republicans. Democrats will go down with a sinking ship before they will vote against a Democrat. Republicans realized years ago that many in their party are not good for the public, while Democrats continue to support the democratic candidate no matter what.

As a lifelong registered member of the Democratic Party, I have to say that your generalizations are not always true. I, for one, am a Democrat who will NOT be voting for Adam Hill for Supervisor. He has had more than his share of issues that he could have come clean about, explained how those situations came about, apologized for his involvement and moved on, but, no, unfortunately, he chooses to deny, obfuscate and attack those who accuse him of the wrong doings. IMO, put a fork in him, he’s done.

Ridiculous! I mean, come on! The RWNJ’s have a tiny minority in the House, but the Republicans are letting them drag the whole government to a halt! “Republicans realized years ago that many in their party are not good for the public”. Really? Then how come they are paralyzed by their own clown show? And you are calling the Democrats blindly loyal? You better lay off the kool aid!

BTW: I’ve voted for Republicans, and I would again if there were a viable candidate, but I have not seen one for years…. That said, I voted for Hill years ago before they moved my district, and i have voted for Gibson the Great now that I am in his district, but even holding my nose I could not ever vote for either of these two despots again. If it comes to Gibson or a COLAB lackey, I’d probably sit out the vote…sad…

Bye bye Adam.

I’m certainly not on the attack for Hill, my response is to what I read here. The percentage of truth would be the percentage of jail bars remaining for Hill to spend his time behind. Then again if half of the bars are missing, he just might walk.

In legal paperwork he claims to be a consultant. On Facebook he claims not to to be a consultant. Which Adam Hill are you going to believe, the one responsible for the legal filing or the one on Facebook?

Hill’s “response” illustrates the folly of assuming the content of an article which he obviously had not yet read. Nor, apparently, had Hill seen the official documents posted with the article. In his statement Hill vehemently denies being a “consultant” but on his own form he identifies himself as such. Hmmm…

I really doubt you would make this stuff up. And, CCN, you would not be posting this article if you did NOT have your proof.

So, can you show it to Mr. Hill and get him to stop lying to the people?

Mr Hill will never stop lying to the public. When the truth hurts people like Hill just constantly lie until even he starts to believe the lies.
