At about 6:25 p.m., a man walked into Batch, a shop known for its ice cream sandwiches that is located at 1108 Broad Street, brandished a handgun and demanded cash. The thief then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No one was reported to have suffered injuries during the robbery. Surveillance footage of the incident has yet to be released.
San Luis Obispo police describe the robber as being about 6 feet 5 inches tall and having a thin build. Police said he is a white man in his 30s who was wearing a navy blue hoodie and a black baseball cap.
Over the past couple weeks, there have been three armed robberies at North County gas stations. In the two most recent cases, the robber was described as being 6 feet tall and between 180 and 200 pounds.
Wednesday evening’s incident was at least the seventh armed robbery in San Luis Obispo this year.
In September alone, there were four armed robberies in the city. After the last one, which occurred at a tea shop, San Luis Obispo police said they were looking for a serial robber. The suspect was described as being a white man who was between 5 foot 10 inches and 6 foot 2 inches tall.
