Women’s march in SLO attracts thousands

Correction: Over 7,000 thousand people attended the San Luis Obispo Women’s March.

Thousands of people gathered at Mitchell Park in San Luis Obispo on Saturday morning for the Women’s March, a much larger-than-expected crowd in a march to protect the civil rights of women.

Following a 10 a.m. rally, protesters marched a 1-mile path through downtown San Luis Obispo. With over 7,000 protestors, as people finished marching, additional protestors were waiting in line to begin the 1-mile march.

Marchers, some in “pink vagina hats,” continued their protests as a light rain dampened the march.

While the marchers were mostly female and white, men and non-whites also joined the protesters. In addition to women’s rights, people marched for human rights, gay rights and for religious freedoms.

Similar marches happened throughout the United States and the world. With hundreds of thousands of protesters, the largest march was in Washington, D.C.

At the rally, speakers voiced concerns that women’s rights could be denigrated with a president they said is routinely disrespectful to women. Marchers also noted their disappointment that Hillary Clinton lost her bid for the presidency.

While the Washington D.C. march was underway, Clinton tweeted: “Thanks for standing, speaking & marching for our values @womensmarch. Important as ever. I truly believe we’re always stronger together.”

All that took part and or supported this march, including those across the country, are hero’s in my opinion! There is a direct threat from this administration to all those rights we have seen progress from pipe dreams to reality. More work has to be done to progress to a point where all people are equal but we shouldn’t leave what we have earned in that wake. History will only look favorably on this time of threat if we come through it with more rather than less. Perseverance rules…

As to the rest of your post…. Bullshit! People like you just don’t think about the consequences of taking us back to an age of abortions that killed and maimed women in numbers we can’t count because of folks like you driving it underground and into the hands of those who would kill and maim. As much as I don’t agree with abortion my disagreement with making it illegal is even stronger. Make it safe, make it legal and make it available to any women who wants or needs it.


The rest of your post speaks volumes about your sexism, bigotry and outright homophobia while forgetting that your out-of-control 2nd Amendment Rights have cost the lives of thousands denying them their right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness (much like the god you speak of).


You christians missed the boat, you know how? By showing up the front door of safe places where woman can get the care they want and or need to further instill your religious guilt on them. Where you should be, where a sympathetic, compassionate and loving god would direct you to be is at the exit to show the forgiveness he espouses to give anyone who asks. Using logic takes on many forms and usually is defined rightly or wrongly by those who use it; the fact that you said “The laughable notion of homosexual marriage?” leads to a logical conclusion based on what you said that you are homophobic (using it, homophobic, in the mainstream context).


Logic would tell you that the 2nd Amendment is out of control when you factor in the thousands of people who have died as a direct result of it while the gun lobby, the NRA and the likes of you hide your collective heads in the sand without compromise or compassion.


Logic would also tell you that being a christian mandates you “turn the other cheek” not slap in another clip, mag’ or chamber another round when confronted with evil (that would be Matt. 5:39 and Luke 6:29).


I’m evil? Really? So be it as long as it keeps me away from the pews that have caused directly and indirectly more death, disparity and division than any war, country or government has collectively caused in written history.

Sorry Snoid, in a culture of instant self gratification over common sense and responsibility, before and after the fact, keeping ones pecker in ones pants isn’t an option. But in the pursuit of equality how ’bout keeping ones pussy in ones pants should be an option as well, right?


I’m 60 something, been to prison and have run a pretty despicable life but I can count on one hand the amount of women I’ve been to bed with. One hand! Yea, some of that has to do with time spent inside but most of it has to do with the fact I didn’t want a passel of kids runnin’ around that I was responsible for and sex has always meant something more to me than a passing “fix” or the definition of my “manhood” (a slut is a slut, man or woman)!. I have one son, a son I had to fight to keep from a wife who wanted to abort him at two months. Now he’s the joy of my ex’s life. He loves math and basketball, he’s 15 goin’ on 60 and I love him to death!


My God rewarded my efforts, greatly!

One man destroyed the efforts of thousands? How so? That can only happen if that one person has a direct tangible effect that impacts everyone involved. He, if he even existed outside of your imagination, didn’t accomplish that so he is of no consequence.


A “civil society” recognizes the equality of all of those who reside within it, ALL OF US!

I absolutely support any protest, mislead or crazy or not, as long as it is peaceful and only a protest. Start any rioting and I think it becomes free game for the rioters who destroy and hurt people and any rioter should be arrested and prosecuted and deserve to lose any and all government benefits including student loans. I also like the new laws that some States are starting to impose about not wearing any type of mask, makeup or cover. If you are going to act like an idiot, let the world see who you are! California will not impose this law because they believe in anarchy!
