Giuseppe’s fires employee over posts about Charlie Kirk assassination

September 12, 2025

By JOSH FRIEDMAN

San Luis Obispo County restaurant Giuseppe’s announced Friday that it fired an employee for making inappropriate social media posts about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Giuseppe’s said the individual made the posts in their personal capacity. As soon as Giuseppe’s learned of the posts, the company took action resulting in the employee’s termination.

“We want to make it absolutely clear that we do not condone or support any communications that are disrespectful, inflammatory, or that glorify violence,” the restaurant said in the statement. “Such behavior runs counter to our core values of respect, integrity, and professionalism.”

In the aftermath of the killing of Kirk at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, some employers around the country have fired or disciplined workers over comments about the assassination.

Gee, I wonder if Senator Mike Lee of Utah was fired after he mocked the assassination of Minnesota state senator Melissa Hortman by posting a photo of the masked gunman with the caption: Nightmare on Walz Street, referring to Minnesota governor Tim Walz? Guess not.

Mocking Walz not the victim.

Mocking so-called Marxists actually of which Hortman was one in Lee’s twisted mind.

Don’t forget Don Jr’s “Paul Pelosi costume” tweet.

Great reason to toss the salad tosser.

TY Giussepe’s.

Tosser is the operative word.

You understood my underlying effort, just fine.

Good for Giuseppe’s

And no. The 1st Amendment is a check on government intrusion…not a private business (had to say that, because someone will cry about it).

-name redacted-“Fuq Charlie Kirk! It’s about time someone did something. He was an absolute menace that spouted religious nonsense that had nothing to do with the Church. He spouted hate and anyone that backs Donald Trump, the pedophile, the hate monger, and destroyer of the American fabric can burn in hell.”

No, he didn’t mention Giuseppe’s, but his words were pointed out to the owners, who obviously felt a person with such vile and erroneous thoughts, need not be around sharp objects, fire, and dozens of innocent patrons in their place of employment.

That’s some a weak sauce…. For Italion ..food.. Believe, obey, fight is what they used to say, right?

Wake me up when they release the Epstein Files.

What were the comments that were posted?

Why aren’t you posting the entire statement?

This story needs more sauce.

I am saddened by the murder-and disgusted at anybody coming close to cheering it on.

However-How can a low profile small business have this much control over what an employee says on their own time?

If the employee cheered on the crime-should they be fired?

If the employee frowned on the crime-should they be fired?

Joe is a friend of mine-but he may face a lawsuit over this.

If the employee had said what has been claimed to patrons at the restaurant would his employee be justified in dismissing him? Of course, he’s damaging their brand!

Do SM comments by employees also damage employer’s brand? Evidence seems overwhelming that it does.

It’s kinda like smoking pot on your own time. The stuff doesn’t just go away overnight, it continues to linger in your fat cells and affects your performance somewhat for days. What an employee does in their off time should concern any employer.

What he said originally :

F—-k Charlie Kirk! It’s about time someone did something. He was an absolute menace that spouted religious nonsense that had nothing to do with the church. He spouted hate and anyone that backs Donald Trump, the pedophile, hate monger and destroyer of the American fabric can burn in hell.

What he said after being fired :

Good morning everyone. Well, it turns out that free speech only pertains to the far right. I no longer work at Giuseppe’s so if you could please stop harassing them that would be great. The America • that I grew up with no longer exists and I am sad about that. It’s an ugly place now, full of white hate, bigotry and no sense of reality. I love my people, gays, weirdos, people of every color and I love knowledge. For people like me don’t stop the fight!

P.S. for all of you people threatening me with violence 1) I’m 60 years old 2) I’ve recorded your names and if you continue to harass my family I will be turning them into the police.

Other than that, I enjoyed my 21 years at Giuseppe’s and I taught a lot of people how to cook in this world. Thank you

If indeed those are his comments, once again he proves that only one side thinks they can have different opinions and everyone has to to believes like them and if anyone doesn’t there are no limits to what someone can be done to them, and they believe and action is justified.

Thanks for tracking this down, M2.5S; if accurate, seems like a guy spouting hate n bigotry is now complaining about America being full of hate n bigotry?!!

Wouldn’t want a weirdo like dat on my payroll either; 1A protects citizens’ speech from State retaliation, but his former employee is well within his rights to dismiss him for that.

If anyone really issued death threats to this idiot, I’d turn em in too! Best remedy for knuckleheads like this is to ridicule them or ignore em. If they get worse, a quiet word to authorities that they might be unstable n worth looking into…

Also points out how dangerous social media can be. Folks say the most horrific things there that they’d not say to someone’s face, and so often mock other folks pain. But they fail to keep in mind that posts never go away; they follow you through life. Every thing you post while drunk, angry, or engaged in a momentary lapse of reason. Worth it?

What about Charlie Kirk’s free speech?…. goes both ways mytwopointfivesense….

As someone on the doorstep of 70 that remembers like it was yesterday when their mother sat down with a six year old and said, “daddy isn’t coming home,” I say F…. You! That man had a wife and two little kids that will grow up without their father, you should be ashamed of yourself for saying what you said!
