Speak out, be shredded

July 5, 2012

Several familiar CalCoastNews readers were singled out for verbal assault in Thursday’s edition of New Times’ vapid version of what now passes for the “Shredder,” rejuvenating and intensifying the saga of Lisa Solomon-Chitty, Paso Robles’ erstwhile chief of police.

The columnist, using endearments such as “blathering idiots” and “self-hating prigs,” expressed dismay over comments made by readers regarding news stories which appeared on this site. He (she, it) suggested this website allowed “misogynists” and “internet trolls” to speak too freely about the chief and her alleged list of sexual offenses against her officers.

The Shredder goes on to say one CalCoastNews blogger is the type of person who their own child should avoid when old enough to move out. This parental rejection was suggested because the blogger repeated Paso Robles Manager Jim Apps’ nickname for Solomon-Chitty – “Pretty Lisa Meter Maid.” The Shredder, however, failed to mention the nickname was initiated by a public official.

The Shredder offers no opportunity for reader comment. CalCoastNews, however, does.

This is a small area. Is anyone involved with SLO New Times associated with someone working at City Hall? For example, the SLO Council of Government’s Executive Officer’s wife is Paso Roble’s Planning Director. Now that is a close association (and double dipping of government money). Is the same true of someone on SLO New Times and Paso Robles? Is this the reason SLO New Times defends the indefensible?

Read this Shredder – Screw you! I quit reading your stupid little column once you started siding with the chief. She is a loser just like you.

Shredder starts pissing match, and the walnut brains jump to the challenge quicker than you can say Darwin.

Fitting.

I notice YOUR name wasn’t mentioned. Easy to pretend you are above the fray when you weren’t ever attacked.

No problem, I use the New Times to line my cat box anyway. I make sure the shredder is on top. The cat gets an extra treat for hitting the target!

I stopped reading the New Times when they cavalierly gave step-by-step instruction on where to purchase ingredients for the making of meth and then proceeded to provide detailed instruction on how to make the meth. It’s somewhat amusing to me that the NT is nervey enough to print criticism against ANYONE!

CCN has nothing to worry about.

There is a saying in politics that people forget quickly. Many of us will never forget this SLO New Times article. They have no room to speak against anyone or anything. How do we spell hypocritical? SLO NEW TIMES.

That’s when I quit also, it’s nothing more then a little Tribune.

Is this the shredder in the SLO New Times that once printed a recipe for manufacturing a certain illegal drug? Who are they to shred anyone?

You read my thoughts, Dante.

Thank you, Ms. Shredder for reminding your handful of readers what I posted here on CCN about Paso’s former disgraced Top Cop, Lisa Solomon Chitty:

“Paso’s decision makers KNEW of her personal and political baggage yet were so eager to have ‘Paso’s first female top cop’ that they just stood by and let App crown his Lovely Lisa the Meter Maid as police chief.”

Just when ya think Chittygate’s going away…it comes back. Again, and again… Heck, taxpayers coughed up a quarter of a million bucks for Lisa’s hush money payout so I guess we deserve at least a few months of entertainment from this whole mess.

And as another poster already said, it’s interesting how Ms. Shredder didn’t mention the context of Lisa Chitty’s endearing nickname–“Lovely Lisa the Meter Maid”. I can’t take credit for that. (Franklly, I wouldn’t have used the word “lovely” anyway.) The clever phrase was dreamed up by our own ebonics master himself, Paso City Czar–er, I mean City Manager–Jim App.

The NT’s own Shredder column from February 12, 2012 details numerous e-mails among Paso city staff, including App & Chitty. Let’s take a stroll down Chittygate memory lane, shall we? Here are some beauties, courtesy of the Shredder’s own column:

First, Lisa showed her classy, professional side by calling some council members ” fu*king morons” in an e-mail dated 8/12/2011. Then, in the NT’s own words:

“But the crème de la crème, the caketopper of the stupid parade, came from a Nov. 23 e-mail from App to Solomon, which we can reasonably assume is in response to a New Times article criticizing the city’s response to its gang problem: “Just wonderin if’n ewe bee havin nuf time 2 crap on the hit piece”

I can only assume this was App’s attempt at using ebonics, which, if that’s the case, is sort of terribly racist. Unless it’s a really bad Jar Jar Binks impression, in which case he’s the only human who found that character amusing … and it’s still sort of racist…”

There you have it. It’s pretty clear that whoever wrote the Shredder column in Feb 2012 had HIS head screwed on straight but the female Chittygate supporter/pseudo-writer of the most recent Shredder column must’ve not even GLANCED at the previous NT column.

Regardless, thank you NT for renewing some interest in Paso’s Chittygate mess. Our roads suck, we don’t have money to keep a neighborhood pool open, the city council cares more for tourists than locals, our city manager acts like an arrogant tyrant, and amid rising crime we endured 5 years of a scandal-ridden karaoke-singing police chief….but HEY! We’ve got memories of Chittygate to keep us warm & happy for at least a few more months…

“knee pads” Whaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhaaaaa….I missed that one, thanks for telling me about it, Shredder. Good one Mary ;)

Even though these comments about “The Shredder”, the New Times, and some of the lables put on those who speak out make for interesting (even hilarious) reading – a word of caution may be in order.

Accept the most likely scenario that “The Shredder” works for the city of Paso or is very closely tied to the city. And that he (or she) is trying, with some success, to get under the skin of those who really are striving to point out the many misgivings about our city government and to make changes.

If we get sidetracked with all these nit-picking little things, we can possibly lose focus on the REAL issues:

1. The City of Paso Robles must get a new Mayor and some new faces on City Council that will do

things different.

2. The 1/2% supplemental sales tax must be defeated because the city will not use that money

any more wisely that they are using our current tax dollars.

3. A new City manager is needed – Mr App has a verifiable track record of not caring about the citizens.

4. The City needs a new Police chief that understands what being a Police Chief really means.

5.. This city has to stop spending untold amounts of tax money on tourism.

6. Get our streets fixed. Start now.

If anyone happened to be at most recent CC meeting (7/3/12), they would have heard these words from one of our leaders! with regards to streets – “We need to do something soon before Sporing Street becomes filled with Potholes and our tourism industry falls off, because tourists will not want to come here” Tourists matter – citizens do not. We have to drive these streets everyday, and get

bounced all over the place.

So lets all have some fun and play with each others emotions a bit – BUT please don’t lose sight of what really must happen.
