Emails reveal Aispuro “wiped out” by Gibson

Emails between San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Bruce Gibson and his administrative assistant call into question claims he made the day he announced his extramarital affair with his assistant.

On Nov. 16, Gibson told the Tribune that his affair with Cherie Aispuro did not take either of them away from their county responsibilities.

“Both Cherie and I gave 110 percent to this job,” he said. “It’s something we feel is important.”

Gibson’s staunchest defenders continue to insist that the affair did not affect job performance.

However, in an email chain from last April obtained by CalCoastNews, Gibson and Aispuro discuss how an earlier interlude had left both unable to perform their county duties.

Shortly before 1 p.m. on April 12, SLO Board of Supervisor’s Secretary Fran Zohns informs Gibson that one of his constituents wants to discuss the vacation rental ordinance.

Aispuro, who is copied on the exchange, emails Gibson that he should wait to contact the constituent until the next day so that she can eavesdrop. Gibson agrees noting how worn out he is.

“OK, I don’t have the energy to deal with this today anyway,” Gibson says in the email.

Aispuro then admits she has spent the work day in bed.

“I just woke up,” Aispuro writes back at 4:01 p.m. “You wiped me out.”

“Sorry to be so demanding! :-)” Gibson responds.

In November, after Gibson announced his affair, county officials said that even though there is not a county policy against having an affair with a subordinate, Aispuro would be moved to a new permanent position.

Nevertheless, emails between Gibson and Aispuro make the transfer sound temporary.

“Even though I’m on “vacation,” I’m trying to monitor emails,” Aispuro said in an email to Gibson on Nov. 19. “I got ur [sic] back BG.”

Last week, Gibson admitted he had brought his mistress back to work in his office as his subordinate. The county then posted an agreement between Gibson and Aispuro in which they claim they will not sue the county over their affair.

A few days later, a group of District 2 residents posted requests on Facebook and Twitter asking county residents to attend the upcoming Jan. 29 Board of Supervisors meeting and call on Gibson to step down from his position.

Is it just me or could Brucy, with a bit of make, up be a perfect candidate for lead role in Return to the Planet of the Apes Part #3?

Did you catch this little snipet?

“county officials said that even though there is not a county policy against having an affair with a subordinate”

Maybe there should be a county policy?

I am always amused how some potentially damaging sexual harassment policies are circumvented… I think that Cal Poly’s faculty- student dating policy is that the faculty member in question can not ‘date’ someone currently enrolled in his/ her class…. every one else is fair game.

Doesn’t look like the control freaks really can control anything after all.

Those on Letterman’s Top 10, going on 20 for SLO County, Jenkins, Solomon, Rizzo, Ovgren, Edge, Wilcox, Blank, Hill, … would like to thank Mr. Gibson for taking the focus off of them, for at least until they manage to move the light back onto themselves. For some on the list, it is just a matter of time.

I especially like the part where Gibson promises in during his campaign to “transparency in governmental affairs”.

Maybe “waving legs in the air” is part of her job description.

Over and over through the years, the county government model is to act like an idiot, then get a giant payout when you get caught. Gibson and mistress are claiming they won’t sue the county over their affair? Conceit and arrogance at its finest. Why do we keep rewarding county leaders when the act like idiots?

I sat at the board meeting listening to county counsel explain how she reviewed Bruce Gibson’s files and emails and felt nothing inappropriate happen to hurt the taxpayer, all while Mr Gibson had his back to the Audience never once looking at his constituents. Well who paid county council to review his and Ms Aispero emails, we the tax paying public that’s who.And now we find out there ARE emails suggesting Ms Aspero could not work because of a sexual encounter, oh excuse me she was tired and worn out and couldn’t do her duty that we all pay her for. I have ran my own business for years and find this attitude sick. Integrity of one’s professional attitude says a lot for ones character, and both people are sick as well as County Council for putting the public thru this High School scene.

THIS COUNTY REALLY NEEDS TO GROW UP.

They do what they do for the simple reason that they know they can. That is the mindset for most of them. As far as us, the voters, keep rewarding them when they act like idiots – well, maybe, just maybe, they are not the only idiots. We, the voters, have never really taken any real, concrete, measurable actions that would make any county or city official think that maybe the game is over, or at least the rules have changed.

Just saying, look in a mirror, and see who might also be an idiot. If we don’t like the way things are being done – we really do have the power to change them.

Bruce Gibson a perfect sociopath!

Do the right thing Bruce step down, seek help for your sociopathic behavior and disappear with your

Cherry. We are all sick of you and your Cherry!!!

You got it! LEAVE our area!!!

Bruce is simply positioning himself to facilitate a better grasp of the issues that we all face. His willingness to thrust himself into the aforementioned issues should serve as an inspiration. Tirelessly he probes for the solutions that’ll create a better environment for us all. Like my granddad used to say; “it’s not deep you plow, but how long you stay in the field”.

I’m shocked by the tone of many commenters. You’re not seeing “the big picture”. Bruce is working on his new budget strategy, more bang for the buck. Then when have the environmental side of the equation. Bruce was not fornicating, but merely studying the effects of additional CO2 generated through sexual encounters. Good God you digital savages, can’t you see, he’s “saving the planet”.

@Maxfusion You are one funny dude. I needed a good chuckle this morning :)
