Hundreds of protestors gathered in San Luis Obispo Thursday morning for the arraignment hearings of BLM organizer Tianna Arata and protester Elias Bautista, several of whom battered reporter Josh Friedman.

Arata’s arraignment was continued until Sept. 17 while Bautista plead not guilty. Before the hearing, protesters gathered in front of the courthouse.

Following the hearing, a speaker said, “CalCoastNews is fake news,” spurring a man in the crowd to try and snatch Friedman’s phone. Several other protesters then pushed Friedman, while others blocked his access.

While covering the event for the SLO New Times, photographer Jayson Mellom was flipping people off and attempting to escalate the violence against Friedman.

At a May 30 riot in Los Angeles, Friedman video taped looters breaking into multiple businesses while several protesters wrote antisemitic remarks on Jewish schools and businesses. In addition, while threatening and harassing Friedman, a handful of protesters referred to Friedman as a Nazi.

On social media, some protesters recommend harassing or assaulting journalists who refuse to stop filming during criminal activity.

On July 21, Arata allegedly led approximately 300 protesters onto Highway 101 from both Osos Street and California Boulevard, blocking all lanes in both directions for nearly an hour.

Arata is charged with one count of unlawful assembly, one count of disturbing the peace, six counts of obstruction of a thoroughfare, and five counts of false imprisonment.

During Arata’s arrest, Bautista yelled at an officer before kicking him in the crotch. Prosecutors charged Bautista with one felony count of resisting an executive officer by force or violence and two misdemeanor counts of resisting, obstructing, or delaying a peace officer for his acts committed against three individual peace officers.

During Thursday’s protest, speakers defended Bautisa, saying he was attempting to stop a kidnapping by cop. The primary goal of the protest, was to get prosecutors to drop the charges.

Friedman live streamed the protesters, who were at times chanting SLO County District Attorney”Dan Dow is a fucking bitch.”

How far into the 2 hour and 44 minute YouTube video attached to this article did Freedman get battered? I’m not really interested in watching almost 3 hours of that protest to find out!

32 minutes into the video, if anyone else is interested :)

Ah children. What are you going to do?

Josh, I hope you are ok! WE BELIEVE IN and APPRECIATE YOU!

It must be your Blonde hair? Maybe you should try dying your hair? I wonder if you would be treated differently out there in the war zone?

These anti-Racists are Racist..

This just keeps getting more and more out of control!

These kids started with of course wanting equal rights for all people. O.K., I would hope ALL of us do. But they think by joining this protest they are showing how they support that Equal rights cause. Unfortunately, Tiana has warped this into her personal vendetta. Her fear of jail time has sparked an all out war. Her influence on these kids has changed from BLM to her own personal battle to stay out of jail! Their aggression has taken a state of US vs.THEM to a very extreme level. But in their minds everyone who is not there standing with them is the enemy.

What they don’t understand is almost everyone wants and believes in Equal rights for all! I believe very few are actually racists. But in order to justify their behavior, they need to believe there is an enemy of racists bigots in our community!

Now Dan Dow is the enemy. I assume Tiana has set him up as a Racist Bigot, just to gain support from the protesters. At this point, she could tell them the sky is green and they will believe it. Their need to give support, and protect Tiana is not reasonable anymore. She broke the law, and has disrespected ALL things authoritative yet they follow her like lemmings because at first they agreed with her. It made them feel good about themselves, feel like they are doing something important, by “Protesting” against racism. Now it has NOTHING to do with Racism! I wonder Really, how many of those kids think its REALLY ok to Harass, Detain, ATTACK innocent people and Not be charged with a crime? Where is Heidi? Why isnt she out there controlling her flock?

These kids need to be back in school!

What no criminal charges against protester who attempted to steal Josh’s phone! Pathetic!

My wife and I had dinner downtown last night. Had a wonderful meal at Buona, then went for a walk. There was a small group of protesters by the Mission making their messege loud in an attempt to ruin dinner for the diners at Giuseppe’s. Unless the protesters learn to respect those of us that make the economy work by having jobs and then using our hard earned money to support the local businesses I will have no respect for their movement. Respect is a two-way street.

They want to destroy or city and our country! But they are stupid! Just guarantee a Trump victory!

Until these protestors learn that they will never get respect until it is shown, they will continue to alienate themselves and their cause – whatever it is- from reasonable people.

I’m sure that when they battered him, they did it “peacefully.” Perhaps next time, they can just bread him. With apologies to the comment guidelines, these clowns are despicable and deserve only mockery, taunting and name calling.

Cowards who have to gang up on one person. Cause: Bad parenting.

Are you referring to the cops that murdered George Floyd?

“In video taken by bystanders, Floyd, 46, is shown repeatedly pleading that he cannot breathe as he is held down with a knee on his neck by former Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin, with three other officers present.”

The literature did not put a knee on the mans neck. The only suicide is the careers of those sworn to protect and serve. But you can pretend it’s his fault if it makes you happy, free country and all.

I get it – you don’t believe in science. You know, the science that demonstrates that he had a lethal level of illegal drugs in his blood. The inability to breath was caused by fluid in his lungs – pulmonary edema being another symptom of fentanyl overdose. Again, at autopsy his lungs were heavier than expected due to being filled with fluid. The simple FACT is that Floyd killed himself with a drug overdose, and those police officers did not kill him. I’m sorry if that isn’t consistent with your scripted talking points, but at some point you really need to learn to think for yourself.

“you don’t believe in science.”

“I’m sorry if that isn’t consistent with your scripted talking points, but at some point you really need to learn to think for yourself.”

“not just the conveniently-edited version put out by your leftist masters.”

You don’t know me, but if insulting people helps your world view then carry on, last refuge and all.

Masters, cute quip when discussing black freedom. No I don’t have one.

My understanding is that having Covid and high on Fentanyl will severely deplete your ability to breathe. That being said, I do agree he should not have been held down by a knee in the neck for so long. They should have just held him for a moment so they could handcuff him. Then taken him to the hospital…

In a more perfect world, I would agree with you. But the cops were dealing with a big, combative guy. I don’t think they intended to do him any serious harm, but did want to positively restrain him. We’ll never know, but I’d bet you a thousand bucks that if Floyd had told them he had just taken a large dose of fentanyl, the cops would have given him a dose of Narcan and he’d be alive today.

“We Know How George Floyd Died. It Wasn’t From Drugs.

The idea that drugs played a role is just a new version of an old racist myth.

By Carl L. Hart

Dr. Hart is a neuroscientist who specializes in how humans respond to psychoactive drugs.

Not again, I thought. I have seen the “drug-crazed Negro” script trotted out too many times when a police officer kills a black person.

Mr. Floyd had a negligible amount of drugs in his system — 19 nanograms per milliliter of methamphetamine and 2.9 nanograms per milliliter of THC, the major psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. Those numbers suggest he hadn’t used them in at least several hours, maybe a day.

Nor would marijuana use have stoked violence. Its primary effects are relaxation, sedation, euphoria and increased hunger. In some cases, it’s true, very high THC concentrations can cause mild paranoia, and visual and auditory distortions, but even these effects are rare and usually seen only in marijuana novices.

He also had 11 nanograms of fentanyl in his blood. That number, in and of itself, doesn’t tell us much. Immediately after a person dies, the blood concentration of fentanyl increases significantly, so knowing only the post-mortem amount does not tell us about Mr. Floyd’s level of intoxication before his death.

What’s more, the same amount of fentanyl that produces euphoria in a tolerant user can result in an overdose in a newer user.”

Here, I’ll type very slowly so you can follow along.

Go to Google Scholar and do a search for “lethal post-mortem fentanyl levels”

That number tells us a lot, because there is plenty of literature documenting that a post mortem flood fentalyl level of over 9 ng/ml is frequently lethal.

The quote you posted is incorrect, he did not have 11 nanograms of fentanyl in his blood. He had 11 nanograms per milliliter, or 11 milligrams per liter of fentanyl in his blood. Huge difference and whoever wrote that piece is incompetent to comment.

Googling makes you a expert? a condescending one too.

I will listen to a Columbia University professor (Dr. Hart is the Chair of the Department of Psychology and the Dirk Ziff Professor of Psychology who specialises in: “Research seeks to understand complex interactions between drugs of abuse and the neurobiology and environmental factors that mediate human behavior and physiology. ” ) before you, who is not any of that.

“whoever wrote that piece is incompetent to comment.” The quote is correct, you missed the context.

But you a anonymous person of no credentials, think you know more about drugs of abuse and the neurobiology than Dr Hart (who read the autopsy report).
