Thousands of protestors rally against Trump in San Luis Obispo

San Luis Obispo’s “Hands Off!” protest brought approximately 5,000 people to the courthouse to rally against Trump on Saturday afternoon.

The rally included speakers such as U.S. Congressman Salud Carbajal who addressed the crowd from the steps of the courthouse. Carbajal voiced concerns that the Trump movement wants to put power “in the hands of corrupt, few autocrats.”

The city closed off Monterey Street from Osos to Santa Rosa streets. Protestors gathered around the courthouse and lined Santa Rosa Street.

Organizers held more than 1,300 “Hands Off!” rallies across 50 states.

Darn these Americans who are exercising their 1st Amendment right to assemble peacefully. They should have spent the day at the golf course with the king.

Kayaknut, were arrest made? No. The LEA saw that the protest was constitutionally directed. We can agree that blocking streets isn’t the best thing. But really, you’re going to sweat over a low traffic downtown SLO street being blocked for a few hours? Let the People exercise their right. And, if you don’t like it, consider moving to Iran or Myanmar.

Just because there may not have been arrests doesnt mean laws were not broken. Perhaps the pice were instructed not to arrest. Just trying to understand how someone’s right to protest, permit ir not, and block a street Trumps someone else’s right to a public road.

Every Thursday night, parades, funerals and more get the streets blocked off. Cities all across the USA do it all the time.

And you really want to bring up what Trump left Biden? Amazing how people forget the state of the nation in 2021 in the wake of more than a million American deaths, many of which could have been prevented if Trump had not so badly mishandled the situation. In this forum I have posted comments about the January 6th riot whereas the anti-American patriots beat the hell out of cops, thrashed the US Capitol and threatened to kill people. There is always huge push back against my criticism of these thugs. Yesterday was a peaceful protest where nobody got arrested or hurt. Yet the people defending thug are butthurt over peaceful protesters. With this in mind is it fair to say that you are more turned on by felons beating up cops and destroying US property than hippies singing and humming songs? If so, how do you guys call yourselves true patriots if your interest is anti-cop and anti-American?

Disgusting. You should be ashamed of yourselves if you don’t like our values and law enforcement.

I pay taxes and those in power waste what I contribute to useless, ridiculous programs or projects. The taxes I pay are just wasted. If someone, anyone, in government can direct my payment to programs that benefit me or my fellow American citizens I fully support them.

If the jobs lost were superfluous why are you asking me to pay for them? Those who had jobs, just because they were paid by tax funds, need to demonstrate that their daily efforts were a value to American citizens not just a placeholder in a government bureaucracy.

You notice they never mention specifics, it’s always “we losing our rights” or “Elon is going to rob us” or “Trump is doing away with democracy”. Tell us exactly what have they eliminated that you thought was a good thing.
