Update: Supervisor Adam Hill removed his name from the online petition sometime on Saturday. A second name Patty Truin was also removed. One name is currently left on the petition.

Original story: San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Adam Hill launched a petition Friday afternoon on Change.org protesting KVEC radio talk show host Dave Congalton’s coverage of recent allegations surrounding the Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo (CAPSLO).

As of Saturday morning, the online petition, “Dave, Domestic Violence is no joking matter” has two signatures, including one from Hill.

“Radio Show host Dave Congalton has given comfort and credibility to a man convicted and jailed for beating women,” the petition says.

Hill is apparently referring to Ralph Almirol, an ex-boyfriend of Dee Torres, the CAPSLO Homeless Services manager. Almirol and other former boyfriends of Torres claim she routinely took gift cards intended for the needy and homeless for her own use. Almirol was arrested 14 years ago for domestic violence against Torres. Following the assault, Almirol said he sought help. The couple reunited and spent several more years together.

Hill and Torres are engaged to be married.

Congalton has featured numerous segments regarding the CAPSLO allegations on his afternoon radio show, defending the right of the ex-employees to be heard. He also devotes an entire broadcast every December to raise money for the San Luis Obispo County Women’s Shelter.

“I’m at a loss to explain Supervisor Hill,” Congalton said Saturday morning. “As I said on the radio, I’ve never seen a pattern of behavior like this from an elected public official in my 25 years on the Central Coast. I wish Adam Hill well. And I wish he would focus on county business.”

It matters not even if Ralph Almirol allegedly beat his wife, because the wrongful accusations against Adam’s fiancé, Dee Torres, and CAPSLO, stand on their own merits if proven.


It’s sad to watch Adam Hill self-destruct in the manner that has been explicitly shown recently, because of the torpedo that has been fired in his direction, in the name of justice, and that is right on target to sink him and his ship of fools.


As we’ve seen many times before, Adam Hill is one fry short of a Happy Meal when it comes to using logic 101, so we’re to expect his irrational thought processes to continue. Within this vein, it only gives CCN even more fodder for future stories about him that will eventually seal his grave.

Adam Hill is clinically insane. Where are the men in white coats to come get this imbecile before he does more damage to the City and County? Seriously, this is so far beyond “recall him” that I think he needs serious professional psychiatric evaluation and help.

What, if anything, does his political leanings have to do with Adam Hill’s erratic behavior? There were a few points during his campaign that I agreed with him on, but please don’t make the leap of logic that his behavior has anything to do relating to a particular political philosophy. I don’t think we really need to go down the list of crazies over the years in both political parties; there is enough unethical, illegal, immoral behavior to go around on both sides. Anything that Mr. Hill does along the lines of crazy, reckless or immature stems from his personal shortcomings, IMO, not anything related to being a “lefty”.

In fairness, if he were far right, I’d have said that, too. I dislike ideologues in general, but as you rightly pointed out, that is not germane to the subject at hand.

What I find amusing about this is I have never heard Dave express an opinion one way or the other on the CAPSLO situation, he has consistently said “let’s hear all the facts before making a decision.” This could be a disturbing trend by local politicians that if radio airs opinions (or facts) that you don’t like, even if it is not the host but guests, pass petitions and sue to shut them down. Between the romantic entanglements of two of our County Supervisors, I am surprised any County business gets done. Why doesn’t Mr. Hill ask to be a guest on the show and present his side of the story?

Isn’t this the same Adam Hill that makes prank phone calls during campaigns to try and slur his opponents? Maybe he should call into; or be a guest on Dave’s show instead of trying to publicly insult him from a far. This is just the type of cowardly dishonest elected official that needs to be term limited. Too big for his britches in my opinion. Maybe Mr Hill needs a vacation…he should check with Dee and see if she has any of those gift cards left. Maybe they can hook up with Gibson and his main squeeze and split town for a decade or so and give us all a break.

OH BOY!! Where to start? Should I start with the fact that as I read this article I hear Ozzy Osbourne’s song “Crazy Train”.


Or him with the ex-prez’s and with Bill being six feet two inches, that puts Hill at short man syndrome.


Or how about the fact that am I wrong but wasn’t he acussed of the same with his ex?


Or how about the fact that as a Sup. he is WAY OVER involved in this and should be dismissed in my view.


Last I said it before and I’ll say it again, the man will wind up going off the rails within 18 months.


Oh and one more is it just me or does anyone else see some similarities between him and the candidate for Mayor of Paso past election, Jeff Rouget???

Let’s see, Adam Hill or Dave Congalton…..who would I find credible and sincere about helping the homeless? It would seem that the best way to silence the voices of those who Hill targets would be to offer documentation rather than attempt to bully and intimidate. Hill has sunk to new lows on this controversy and his attacks are unprofessional at best, and scary to boot.
